Only when its cold outside it has a hard time staying running

first is the idle air control valve that controls your idling, the overdrive is a very common problem with ford transmissions .It is a easy and cheap. I get a lot in my garage. you need to replace shift solenoid c it is on the valve body in the transmission. this is my linkhttps://www.facebook.com/TedsRepairs2012-02-24_032639_4r55evalvebody.gif

Why does Van die when you turn the steering wheel?

Engine stall or RPM fluctuates at idle.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

You need to get the trouble codes out of the computer first. Take it to your local autoparts store and they can hook up a scan tool and retreive codes this give you a general area start looking for the problem.

Computer? Check the air idle control, sometimes they get dry and carbon in them and idle high or low.

I have check engine lcode p2187 on my mazda 6 2003

i had the same code....did you resent the ECM? If so then it takes about 40-50 miles for the computer to relearn the new stats of the engine (intake air temp and volume/fuel mix..etc..).
If you need to reset it...just disconnect the battery for 30 mins and then reconnect it. When you start the car back up let it idle 5 mins before you drive. It'll act funny for 30-40 miles then it should run smooth. Let me know if you have more issues. You can also hit us up at 6crew.com or mazda6club.com
