To start your car, it may need to be "jumped" by another car to jump start the battery, or you may need someone to bring gas for your car.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Truck & Heavy Duty Diagnostic tool
I am a strong believer of the KISS therory, so lets start on the most likely. When you replaced the battery, did you also clean the battery cable connections? If not that is the most likely cause! If not, suggest you get jump your car to make sure where the problem is. If it starts with the jump start then it is in the battery system - battery, battery cables, alternator.
Hi, a couple things you can check are the alternator voltage and the battery terminals. If a car starts with a jump but not with the battery, either the battery is low or the terminals are not tight enough. A low battery can be caused by a failing alternator. With the car running, the voltage at the battery should be at least 14 volts. If not, or you don't have a voltmeter, remove the alternator and have it tested at you local parts chain. Sounds like your battery is flat. Their is enough charge in the battery to make the ignition lights, radio etc come on but not enough to engage the starter motor which requires much higher power. Try jump starting the car or charging the battery as a first step. If the car is a manual you could push start it. Once you get it running the battery will charge back up and will even start the car but dont be deceived, if the battery is failing you will have the same problem again in the next day or so.
