1985 Pontiac 6000 4cyl 2.5L Base. - Ignition Module

Yes. Raise and support the vehicle (not by the sub-frame). Place a jack under the rear of the sub-frame and remove the rear sub-frame mounting bolts. Loosen the front bolts a few turns, but do not remove. Then slowly lower the sub-frame until it is being supported by only the front bolts. This will provide the clearance you need to get your hands in at the ignition module.

I have a 1998 Dodge Avenger with a 2.0 (4cyl). Does anyone know of any tricks to remove the passenger side motor mount to engine bolts without removing the engine from the car ????

Put the car on stands and put a jack within a few inches of the under side of the engine. Loosen the bolt mounts by about have a turn. Have a friend use a length of timber and use jack top as a lever fulcrum to take the weight of the engine off the mount whilst you remove the mounting bolts. Take care not to put any load on the oil pan as it can crush quite easily. You should be able to adjust the engine attitude about two inches without having to detach anything, this is enough room to get the old mount out and therefore the new one in. Take your time and keep safe

Rusted out oil pan

Loosening motor mounts and jacking up engine may give you some room, but might not be enough. Supporting the frame and lowering the front axle assembly is another option, but you will need a helping hand. Replacement is tricky in keeping the gasket in place. Make studs out of bolts that are the same size as factory by cutting the heads off. They will help hold the gasket in place as well as guide the pan into proper position. Cut screwdriver slots in them for easier removal after you get the mounting bolts started.
