Question about Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

I am putting a hitch on a 1992 Chevy Blazer S10. I need to know where to connect the trailer wire harness. Should I access each tail light seperately or is their a junction I can connect to, if so where is it located?

Igot a 1987 chevy blazer that my tail lights dont work and ever time i change the fuse it blows the fuse. The blinkers ,brake light and hazards work but no tail lights or park lights.

There is a short to ground in your tail/park light circuit. If your blazer is equipped with a trailer hitch, the first place I would look for the problem is in the trailer wiring. Otherwise, the circuits need to be traced from the fuse to the tail lights and/or all of the park lamps to find out where the short circuit is located. Whatever you do, DO NOT put a larger fuse in the fuse block. This will result in your vehicle burning to the ground. (I have seen this several times and it isn't pretty)

If you have a full-size Blazer, it should be a 20 Amp fuse. This fuse also powers your cigarette lighter, so check there also for a problem.

If you have an S-10 Blazer, it should be a 20 Amp fuse. This fuse also powers the courtesy/dome lamps.

Chevy S10. When my running lights are on everything works (except turn signals), front lights, tail lights brake lights. When I turn on my headlights turn signals still dont work everything comes on fine...

Check the grounds on your wiring.
If you have a trailer harness, make sure there are no shorts, or crusty connections

you must check the connection where the truck harness meets the added trailer harness on the truck itself not the trailer harness.

2008 dodge 1500 4wd tail light wire harness color code with trailer hitch

If you adding a trailer light harness, you can buy a seperate harness from most auto parts stores that will plug right in. There should be a connector near the rear of the truck that you can unplug, and add the trailer harness. It's simple and fast and you don't end up making a mess of your wiring. I suggest puting some "dielectric grease" on the connections to prevent corrosion.
Flat 4 connector.
Brown is tail lights and marker lights.
Yellow and Green are turn and stop. I think yellow is left.
White is ground.

I'm trying to hook up a trailer hitch and need to hook up tail lights to trailer

you may or may not have a trailering wire harness. look for an extra set of wires underneath the middle of the rear bumper (have a peek around the spare, too). this should have a flat plug on it that looks like it belongs on a videogame controller plug. some models also have a covered socket you should look for. if there doesn't appear to be one, you may have to have a professional or a knowledgeable friend put one in.

I brought a dodge Dakota that came with a hitch and electrical hook up, but when i try to use it, it wont light up. so i asked the Mechanic at the dealer and he wants to charge 140.00 to fix

Goto autozone and get a trailer hitch hookup and it just clips in on your tail lights for about 20 buck you can do your self!! I did this cause my dodge truck did not have one at all so i did that and my boat trailers lights worked!!

Yes it screws in on right side of tramission and you will need a 7/8 inch deep socket to remove it. You may be able to clean the old one once it is removed. There is a little ball thatgets dirty and may you can get by with cleaning it. Good Luck. Ed
