Question about 2000 Toyota Corolla

Not a problem, just a question

I have an automatic Toyota Corolla and I am wondering why are there still gears on an automatic cars? Like D, 2 and L. When am I supposed to put it in 2 or L manually? Could you please answer me this question?

In case you want to down-shift when going down a steep hill. The engine will slow the car instead of just riding the brake.

Have you tried changing Transmission oil and filter? Most automatic Transmission problem gets resolved by just changing the transmission oil and filter.

If this doe not work. Have it checked by you trusted mechanic and it may need replacing some parts.

What is the original gear oil of toyota corolla 2005?


if its a manual transmission then 75-90 gear oil. i suggest moving up to full synthetic 75-90. if it an automatic then toyota type t-iv is the fluid. you can get this at the dealer.

It is hard to get into gear if fluid is low will


if fluid is low you have a leek,no oil makes the syncromesh gears work really hard and will burn out a tranny extreamly fast and a very expensive repair,
if it's an automatic have the modular valve checked

You have a failed component in the transmisssion, have it tested for a potential fault code.
