I have the same problem ,but my alarm only sets itself off in the middle of the night, most annoying for the neighbours. I am now having to leave the car unlocked. i wonder if there is a poor connection somewhere on the door contacts, I have also read that condensation may cause the alarm to activate, either in engine compartment or from inside the car. At the moment I am looking to take the fuse out or simply disconnect it.

Hello - no idea why this ended up under "Beetle" when the issue regards a 2001 Jetta (wagon, 4 cyl, nothing else special really)
I cannot lock my car's doors without the alarm going off within minutes after. Condensation sounds like a viable cause, but how to stop it?

I have the same problem! Seems like it happens on a damp night.........I don't know what to do about it. I hate not locking the doors.

Panic alarm goes off when I try to replace the battery. no after alarm system installed

Reset it with your key in the driver door lock (lock and then unlock). The alarm goes off because it detected a voltage drop. This is actually what its supposed to do.

Interior lights stay and alarm goes off every time i lock it

Your car thinks a door is open , thus the light stays on. When you lock the doors with the remote it activates the alarm system. 10 sec later it senses that the a door is open and alarm sounds.
I have a 99 passat as well and I just went outside to see where the switch on the door is. Can't see one anywhere , it must be inside the door (part of the latch mechanism). I tried to arm the alarm system by locking the doors with the remote while the door was still open , sure enough the alarm went off about 15 secs later.

Anti theft alarm goes off when no one is around mostly at night or early morning sometimes when driving door locks keep locking and unlocking and interior lights go on

You have a short in your Electrical system where the alarm connects to your power assist system or a short in your alarm. Pull the fuse for the alarm and if the problem stops it is the alarm if it continues you will need to trace the connections and make sure they are secure and protected by taping them up.

Key goes in the driver's lock and only opens the driver's door. Car alarm goes off when door is opened and will not start. Have tried multiple times. Can you help?

Does it have remote central locking. If it does then it needs to be opened with the remote control. By opening the door with the key is the same as picking the lock to the alarm system so it put's on the alarm and imobilise's the car and actavates the alarm. Hope this help's Cheer's

Can not lock car by key remote . toyota rav 4 53 plate

If your car has an alarm with a separate remote, it is a separate system and it is probably self-arming. When you lock the doors with the key central lock, the alarm gets armed by the RAV4 being OFF and the door locking action. When you unlock the doors with the key, the alarm is still armed because the key is not comunicating with the alarm just the cars factory keyless system.

Alarm system goes off by itself

Your system may have a backup battery that has low voltage when the car is turned off. You may have to look under the dash to see if you can find the main computer for the alarm.
