I have the same problem. All rear brake lights stay on (even with the ignition off) and my cruise control does not work either.

Hi,

If you are referring to the "brake lights" at the rear of the Accord, then it would be the brakelight switch mounted on top of the brake pedal that needs checking. It is most likely shorted. There are instances that the wires/connectors might also require checking over while at times, it could just be a spring missing.

If on the other hand, you are referring to the brake indicator in the dashboard, then that signifies that your brake fluid level in the reservoir is getting low and would require topping. It could also indicate that some of your brake pads are getting thin.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

There is a little plug that goes into the brake pedal arm where the brake lights switch is supposed to hit ,and this plug has fallen out. you will see a hole in the brake pedal arm and the brake light swtch has nothing to stop on , you can tape a dime over the hole or some kind of pastic plug or call the dealer for the correct stopper -jeff

Check the prones inside the connector that you plug into the brake light module. You may have to squeeze, wiggle, tilt each one to see which one is not connecting all that good. I know it may sound confusing. I tried to explain the best of I could.

I assume you mean the one on the dash. This is an indicator that there is a problem in your braking system. Make sure it's not low on Brake fluid and have the brake system checked or check it yourself. If your going to check it yourself I recommend the Haynes repair manual on your vehicle as a reference.

Check your brake pedal arm where the brake light switch touches it. You'll most likely find a hole where a plastic plug should be and is letting the brake light switch plunger stay extended. An easy fix is to superglue a coin over the hole or simply insert a body panel type clip into it which you can get at your local auto parts store.

In some cases the brake light will come on when the rear brake pads are getting worn down to low, check them if they appear to be lacking of enough brake material replace the rear shoes to make the light go out and restore adequate rear brake traction.

1994 Honda Accord Brakelights (all 3)stay on even when car is off

There is a brake light switch located under the dash at the top of the arm that the brake pedal is mounted to. It either needs to be adjusted or is faulty. This switch is what makes your brake lights come on and it will do this whether the car is on or off. Most likely just needs to be adjusted so that the tip of the switch isn't touching the brake arm until you push the pedal. Its very simple to adjust

Why mybreak lights wont turn off when car stops 1994 honda accord

Your brake light switch is most likely bad. Under the dash there is a switch that when you push the brake pedal, a pin extends to complete the circuit. There should be a bracket with a rubber tab on it attached to the pedal lever itself. If the rubber tab is missing, it will also allow your brake lights to stay on.

My 1994 honda accord break lights wont turn off when car has stop

brake in a car is verry important for your saffety and others. that why they install many devices or systems to control them and make shure they work propely 1; brake light switch on the pedal floor(to indicate to the folowing car that you are stoping) 2;brake sensor fluid level (on the brake master cylinder under the hood)
to monitor the level of the fluid in the reservoir 3; brake pressure sensor (on the brake dispencer under hood) will warn you in case of brake pressure faillure .note, it may be more sensors, depending on the make of the vehicle but this is the tree comon causes for brake ligth to stay "on"
