My van is making noise like knocking inside the engine & it's getting louder when i'm driving.

knocking noises that get louder and in time with a compression indicates a failing big end or main bearing
for a quick check remove the HT leads one at a time and if the noise goes or reduces then it is a bearing for that piston

Landrover td4 2lite diesal kalahrari 53plate Loosing power and loud clanging noise under the bonnet when eccelerating and seems to be there all the time now Changed fuel filter and oil filterand oil

loud noise under acceleration indicates a failed big end bearing or main bearing
have a oil pressure check done
remove the injector for that piston and if it stops the noise then consider a replacement engine.

It seems the noise is coming from the oil pump and engine main bearings. Is it good idea to open the crankshaft and remove the main bearing cups just to check the condition of the main bearings and...

Your going to have to jack up the motor the get the oil pan off anyway, You have that all tore down just all well replace the piston rings and just afraid a lot of work if it comes to be something else.If the lifters are not ticking the oil pump should be ok, But with it being a older auto and you just wanted to rebuild.. Good luck and hope it all turns out .

On a 2002 isuzu trooper 3.5 V6 with auto and 4wheel drive do i need to remove engine to pull oil pan? i have a loud banging in motor and need to check crankshaft & bearings

Yes, you need to pull the engine to remove the oil pan. This requires that you remove the propeller shafts and the third cross member to slide the transmission toward the rear of the vehicle. I suggest you purchase a service manual before you start this process. More than likely the rod bearing for cylinder 1 has failed. This seems to be a common problem with later model 3.5L Trooper engines because the oil pump and oil gallery do not deliver oil as efficiently to the number 1 rod bearing.

Where is the oil pump located on jeep liberty 2002

oil pump is in the oil pan, sounds like your problem is in the crank bearings if one crank bearing goes you will loose oil pressure causing oil light to come on.

Main rod bearings

In order to do main bearings on any car it is strongly advisable to remove engine. In most cases leaving it in car cause problems with install that may result in complete engine failure.Depending on which bearing, it can be done but I've never seen one that didn't have problems afterwards. I'm not sure what you mean by "re-set itself" but at this point it may not matter. If referring to oil pressure light, it will go out when pressure loss is corrected, in your case loss from bearings.
This is not a small easy job. I know thats what you were hoping for and I'm sorry to be the one to tell you it is not.

My oil pressure light comes on at very low speed on 96 camry

Take a gauge and check you oil pressure. If its not low then change the pressure sensor. If the pressure varies and the pressure is not where it is supposed to be, then drop the oil pan and look in the bottom of the pan. If you see slivers of metal then the bearings are going out. Eather the cam bearing, rod bearing, or main bearings.
