Question about 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT
Def the wheel bearings/hub/speed sensor. I just bought a new wheel bearing comes with the hub and speed sensor as one. Runs about 80-100 dollars though but abs/traction light went off and stays off now.

Dayranger got it right!!
The grand am, malibu, skylark, regal, etc. all work the same way. The wheel speed sensor get an erratic reading and the abs module turns on the lights.
What needs to be done first is the abs codes need to be read. If there is no codes that don't mean that there isn't a problem. The tech2 scanner is designed to see the signal from the wheel speed sensor while drivingthe car. The technician has to take a snapshot of the wheel sensors to see which one is dropping out and at what speed. Sometimes when slowing down at a steady rate one of the sensors may go to 0 mph when the other is still above 5mph, this will cause the abs to activate. The module thinks it has a wheel skidding.

I had the same problem with the abs and trac off lights coming on. I was told that it was my abs brakes that made this lights come on. So they unhooked my abs brakes, and now i have those lights on all the time.

My trac & abs light are both on what is the couse of it to come on ?

These two are linked together the abs light is probably on for a bad component like a wheel speed sensor or something like that, this will automatically trigger the TRAC light to come on. To check it must be done by a code scanner/computer. This can be check at an auto zone for free. Then I will be able to help with the code. In most case the most common problem is one of the four wheel speed sensors for the abs system. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA.
