2004 Jeep wrangler

I have a 2004 JW that will not hold a charge, and the interior gages go crazy. I can jump the vehicle and it will start but will only maintiain running for like 3 min, then makes an awful animal like noise and dies. what might this be?

I have the exact same problem. I thought it was the battery so I bought I new one today and replaced the old one. I still have the same problem so I guess I will be trying the alternator now.

If you have a multimeter, you can check the voltage on the battery with the engine running. It should be above 13.5 volts dc, if not, then you are running off the battery, and the battery is probably good.

I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler with 43000 miles, when I go to start it, it doesn't click, and the engine doesn't start, all the lights work, the radio works, everything works. I tried to jump start it that...

Check your battery charge level, fluid level (if possible), cable connections and cable condition. Lights, radio, and other accessories draw MUCH less than the starter, so they will often work even when the battery is too low to spin the starter. Corroded connections and/or frayed or loose cables will not let enough current pass to spin the starter.

WOnt run over - battery good - can turn it over but jumping the starter

if the battery is good and you jump the starter she should run otherwise you may have a sensor issue, try to get a hold of a code reader and see if any codes have popped up..
