Question about Chevrolet Cavalier

Open Question

96 cavalier. Horn doesn't work. Testing at horn shows power. Installed horn from 2000 cav ( from bone yard ) When horn is ingaged, it doesn't beep, just kinda grunts & side lights come on. Removed horn totally, when car is running, emergency lights flash & dash lights light up. Install OLD horn, everything OK except for horn. ???

SOURCE: I had a Titan Remote

Could be.
Yes, change the battery in the hand held unit first.

Next could be the control unit.
Next could be that there is something brocasting in the area that is near the same frequency.
Does this only happen at home? Or has it happened in other areas also?

Is this a factory unit? Or an aftermarket install?

SOURCE: 1997 Dodge Caravan Horn and Airbag light

It's the " clock spring " . Dodge has a lifetime recall / replacement on this part. Somehow it controls the air bag and is tied into the horn and cruise control .

SOURCE: 2000 windstar airbag light is on on dash and horn

Hi Mamaberta7,
The OD light flashing is something you need to have checked using a scanner. Since this trans. was recently rebuilt, you want to get it checked soon. The transmission can default to full line pressure and this can cause damage. Also if the unit isn't locking up, it can cause the transmission to overheat.
The airbag light on and the horn not working are probably tied into the clock-spring. This is the most common concern with the symptom you have. Again, you can have the code pulled to confirm the problem or you can use a DVOM (Digital volt/ohm meter) and check for continuity through the clock-spring. If you want to check it yourself, let me know and I will get you the steps to down the system and the wiring diagram.
If you have any other questions, drop me a line. Thanks,Chuck

Horn on a 2000 intrigue does not work can u please tell me how to fix it

You will have to find the horn first. Then check if power is getting to the horn, with a multi meter. If you have power then check for a good ground. If you have power then you will know horn is bad. If you have no power to horn you will have to check the fuse Now finally you can buy a new horn or go to your local junk yard and buy a horn from them, for your car.

I have a 96 Cavalier and my passenger side low beam does not turn on (high beams OK) & my horn doesn't work either. I've replaced the bulb with no luck. Any suggestions?

The light socket itself could be bad. If you turn on the lights and put a meter on it you can verify there is power at the socket. If not you still have to trouble shoot some more. No power at socket could be wiring that went bad or melted but you will have to remove the socket and test the wires themselves. No power at the wire bare ends you have to go back to the fuse distribution and check that. Low voltage sucks for this very reason. good luck.

How to fix a horn on a 2003 cavalier.... The fuse is good, so I know it's not that. Please help!

The horn is located on in the right front fender behind the wheel well. You need to remove the plastic cover around the front part of the wheel well and pull it back enough to see the horn.Remove the wire from the horn and you can use a test light to see if you are getting power to the horn. The ecm(engine control module) is right by the horn so be careful with the wires harness. If you don`t have a test light you can use a piece of wire and hook it to the battery and put power to the horn.It should beep.If not replace the horn.If it does work then you will need to trace the wire back to the relay center under the hood.Hope this helps.Good luck.

The horn on my 96 Chev Cav is not working.

Before you buy a relay, look for one in the fuse box that is the same as the horn, and plug it in and try it, then you'll know what it is and what to buy.
