Question about 2006 Ford F-150

1 Answer

After a jump start, my after-market stereo doesn't power up on a 2006 f150. I changed the fuse in the truck, but it didn't look like it was blown anyway. The in-line fuses on the stereo wires are all fine. The clock (memory) on the stereo is still working. Any ideas? The manual wasn't real specific on which fuse went to the stereo power. Did I maybe check/change the wrong one?

I would check your Auxiliary relay box. Check the R03 relay you might need to replace it. The Auxiliary relay box is located in the engine compartment (driver side)

According to my schematic of your BASE system...
There is a 20A fuse for constant power...

AND

a 5A fuse for ignition power

AND a delay relay.

CLICK HERE to see the schematic.

All the fuses are located in the same fuse panel.

First thing to check for is if the starter has a thermal overcrank or not, thermal overcrank sensor is located right on the starter it should have two wires going to the connector, check to make sure you have a ground to one wire at key engine off, next if ground is present on one wire plug back into sensor on starter and make sure ground is bridge or present on other wire, if ground is not transfer to other circuit when plugged in then thermal overcrank sensor is bad than just jump circuit or replace sensor, now if ground is not present on either circuit at key on engine off than applied ground to both wire and retest starter cranking at key switch, please update once test is complete, thanks.

No power to ignition or dash or anything but do have interior lights. no clicking and no reactions when key turned. same when i try to jump start it.

First check your fuse box and make sure you don't have blown fuses. If that doesn't tell you anything, you need to check if you are getting 12V to your PCM.

Stereo is hooked up, but not receiving power. wondering if it might be a blown fuse, and how do i fix this?

just check all your fuses with a test light because even if the fuse doesn't look like its blown it might be. also check wires behind the stereo

Feul pump malfuntion after stereo installation 94 ford f150 It ran fine when it was parked installed a new stereo and it won't start both fuel pumps seemed to have stopped working..

Check you Inertia switch, known as the crash switch. This can be set off by vibration or impact and all you do is press the reset button on the switch for 3 seconds.
If this does not work check the fuse. If it is not blown check the fuse socket with the ignition on to see if the power is dead to the fuse. If you have power to the fuse then you need to check for power at the fuel pump.

CAr stereo not working after battery jump

Doubtful, my guess would be fried. Does the unit get power?

Check the fuses, especially the one for car stereo. If that's not blown you'll need to put the head unit and check the fuse either on the 12V power wire or on the wiring harness or on the back of the actual unit.

I've seen that same thing done several times and usually the damage is more drastic, consider yourself lucky.

fuel pump relay, or the simplest solution check the fuse block to see if you have a blown fuse. Most likely its the relay, but check the fuse block, under the dash and under the hood, maybe you'll get lucky. Good Luck.

Ok... So now nothing on the interior is working...

you have probably blown some fuses, remove and replace. check your relays too. Probably caused by putting jump lead from negative to positive or vise versa.

There is more than one fuse to check. There is also a fuse panel under the hood near the car's battery. Check all fuses. Most cases this fuse can be labeled "Back Up".
