If it was just the doors not unlocking I would think it is the solenoid controlling the door lock that was faulty, but in your case you can unlock door with key.
The problem seems to be more with car alarm, door locker, and remote.
In particular the remote seems not to be working, try testing the remote and trying replacing battery.
If the above does not work you will have to replace, the lock motor, or the lock solenoid actuator, the whole job will go for $350/$400.
If you want to do it yourself Hi, you can remove the door panels and with a test light see if the you are getting power on lock-unlock on the connectors for the actuators .
To replace the actuator:
"You should check to make sure that the lock rods are not binding before installing the new acuator if they are free and lock assembly it's self is ok then install the acuator. rear side door

  1. Remove the door lock knob.
  2. Remove the arm rest.
  3. Snap off the trim covers and remove the screws retaining the assist strap, if so equipped.
  4. Remove the 3 screws securing the lower edge of trim panel.
  5. Remove the screw at the door handle cover plate and the screw located under the arm rest pad.
  6. Remove the trim panel by carefully prying out at the trim retainers located around the perimeter of the panel.
To install
Before installing the door trim assembly, check that all trim retainers are securely installed to the assembly and are not damaged.
  1. Pull the door inside handle inward, then position trim assembly to inner panel, inserting door handle through handle hole in panel.
  2. Position rim assembly to door inner panel so trim retainers are aligned with attaching holes in panel and tap retainers into holes with a clean rubber mallet
  3. Install previously removed items.
"
(Thanks)

Hi,

Part of your post "car doors wont lock with key" initially seems to be a mechanical problem. You could try opening the door panel, perform cleaning to remove dirt, accumulated dust and possibly rust and spray with general purpose lubricant such as WD40.

Your other concern "lock motor in back door wont turn off until you unlock the drivers door with the key" sounds like an electrical problem but may be interrelated to the locking problem of above. Pls try the cleaning as above described and additionally check if there are any switches that may likewise be affected by any dirt/rust.

For a possibly more detailed solution, perhaps you could post back the year and exact model of your Ford vehicle.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Drivers door will lock with key but wont unlock

Year/make/model?? Sounds as if the drivers door lock actuator motor is seized/jammed in one direction not enabling the door to unlock. The door will most likely need panel disassembly for inspection/repair

Driver door will not unlock with key or remote.

Could be the central locking motor or linkage that need looking at.
Can you hear the motor move in the driver door? If so the linkage is at fault, if not then it's the motor

My 98 kia sportage wont start

It sounds like the key sensor in the drivers door is malfunctioning, the drivers door is the only door that can enable/disable the alarm, if you try to unlock any of the others it will trigger the alarm.

Sometimes with my Kia I have to (without opening the door), cycle lock and unlock several times before the alarm is disarmed.

Have you tried this is succession, with all the doors locked:-

put the key in the drivers door, turn to lock and then to unlock, the alarm should disarm.

Also, if any of the door locks are jammed, the alarm will still activate when you try to unlock the drivers door.

If that fails and the alarm still activates, then it's a problem with the key sensor in the door.

06 Sorento, passanger front door wont unlock.. Do we have to take the whole door panel off? is it maybe the motor ? Tryed to unlock with remote and manual.. It just wont open.

I take it that this is the only door that does not work. This being the case does the door sound as if the electric motor is working inside the door? When you try to unlock with the key does the key turn and nothing happens? If this be the case then a plastic clip that joins the key lock arm and the lockmechanism is likly to be broken requiring trim removall and replacing parts not very expensive but hard to get out. I find removing four bolts holding seat in position and removing the seat is the easy way
