Sounds like it's starving for fuel. Start with replacing the fuel filter. Also check the air filter if it's dirty replace it. The fuel filter is located behind the gas tank
If this does not fix the problem, the fuel filter, the catalytic converter is probably plugged and needing replacement. If this does not fix the problem, the fuel filter, the catalytic converter is probably plugged and needing replacement.

give it a good tuneup. plugs, wires, airfilter etc. then go from there if there is no leaks. a bad coolant sensor will also cause it to use more fuel then before. do a tuneup first ! good-day ! tire pressure also.
common impala problem friend of mine has a 2000 with the same problem just cover the grill so that cold air does not blow into the rad it should give you your heat back
They do go in firm, the cv joints also give a little, which makes it hard to get good pressure on it. Grab it by the center axle and quick thrust it in, if you can get a helper to push in on the outer end, and if you use a hammer, use a soft blow, or piece of wood.
Likely a slipping belt. Accelerator makes the engine spin faster, which can let the belt slip more. There's a spray product called "belt dressing" that might stop the slipping temporarily - at least long enough to see if that's the problem. Or, you might be able to inspect the belts - with the engine off - and see if one is noticeably loose.
Check the fuel pressure regulator. generally "failure" position is full open which will richen up the fuel mixture. also check vacuum line to the regulator for cracks and good connection.
