I am aware that a used harness is less expence than new.which if I had the wiring diagram it would be much cheaper yet. I have made new harness's at other times, unless you can stear me to a wiring diagram,I don't think you've given me the help I was looking for.

Hi,

As has Jaime867 posted, it would depend on the year. Perhaps this link might start you off and you can wing it from there. All others would require a fee such as here or here.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Best ones that are complete and accurate are from mitchell manuals-in color and color coded wiring--also available thru automotive hobbiest online--complete wiring diagrams--like 30 pages are like 10 bucks and are duplicates of the factory manuals--best ive ever found with out spending a fortune thru the manufacturer.

Hope this points you in the right direction

Go to www.car-parts.com and search for a wiring harness for your truck near your location, then mark all of the connections with tape and a marker before removing the old one. Getting a used one from a salvage yard will be much cheaper than getting a new one and much better than making your own. Let me know if you have any other questions and I would be happy to help.

www.car-parts.com is a worldwide resource of thousands of junkyards that have every make and model of parts. A wiring harness can be obtained from a Haynes or Chilton manual from a local car parts store, make sure they have the wiring diagrams in them before purchasing or a Ford dealer can give you one most likely. Talk to the Parts department and they may be able to fax or email you a diagram. My dealers are very helpful by me. Their diagrams are much better than the manuals. I didn't know your expertise with wiring harnesses so I assumed you would just need another one since it can be tricky to fix them.

Passanger headlight doesn't work. Brand new lightbulb no luck, fuses are good. what could be the problem

Hi,
Look under the hood for a fuse panel. There should be a diagram on the lid that shows HeadLight Relays. If there is one for the left and right, try swapping them - WITH THE KEY OFF. If that changes the light that works, then either the dealer or an auto parts store should have the relay.

It's also possible the headlight harness is bad - they can overheat and melt. Verify there is no damage to the harness wired from the headlight to the fuse panel under the hood.

If you also lost the light dimmer and highbeams, you may have a short in your wiring, or the 'stalk' on the steering wheel is bad.

How to find out has caused my headlights and windshield wipers to come on together from a 2003 Dodge Neon automobile?

Sounds like a wiring harness problem. Sometimes your wires will get very hot and melt themselves together. Pop your hood on your car and look at the corner closest to the drivers corner under the hood. A patch of wires should come out. check them for any melted wires. Also look under the dash of your car for any melted wires.

No dash or tail lights for my 03 alero and all was well before i pulled unto the street

first check fuse 45 in the box under the hood. If you, try swapping the AUTO PRK relay (#19) with another relay to see if that's the problem. I believe it's one or the other of these. If not, please get back to me.

Why doesn't ac blower work on number 5 setting? it is a chevy hd gas engine

Most likely the blower motor resistor. It's mounted next to the blower motor under the dash. Also check the 7 wire plug going to it, GM had a problem with that plug, and the wiring getting hot and melting. The plug is $68.00 from the dealership. One of my customer's car had the same problem.

My 97 nissan pickup truck died and smoke came in thru the glove box and smelt like wires burning what could this be

You have a short under the dash or near the firewall under the hood. This is a major fix and you will need a wiring expert. Bad news for you. I am so sorry.
If for some reason someone installed a new radio or stereo system then they may not have taped a bare wire good enough and it bumped against a hot wire or ground wire. Look under the dash and see if you can feel or see any melted wires and check for melted wires under the hood as well. You may get lucky and minimum wire damage might have occured. I wish I was there. I could look for you. Good Luck and please let us know how it turns out. The Raz

You have a dead short somewhere. Star by checking wires for signs of burning, soot melted insulation, paying close attention to red or pink wires. Start down by the starter and work your way back to the fuse box. Also check around all connections, especially any that go to the body or frame from the engine. It can be a tedious job and you may have to unwrap wire harness's to find it. If you've done any electrical work under the dash, like new stereo, check that as well.
These problems are usually under the hood or anywhere wires pass through the firewall. It should be a fairly thick,#10, wire. Most of your wireing is #14-16. Hope this helps.
