Question about Chevrolet S 10

2 Answers

I have a 2001 chevy s-10 pickup that the brake lights will not go out. Brake light on cab works OK. other brake lights stay on all the time, even with engine off and key removed. Only way to get them off is to remove the fuse.

would the brake pedal switch be bad and the 3rd light (brake light on the cab) still be working OK?

Try removing the brake light relay located in the fuse box under the hood. There should be a second relay exactly the same located in this box as well, switch the two to see if it will work, if it does and thhe ligs cut off then that relay is bad and you will need to change it.

HI...
Disconnect the BRAKE PEDAL POSITION Switch.
IF the lights go out.
Replace the switch.
IF not.
Check the HAZARD switch. push. ON and OFF.
Chack if you have intermitent lights.
If you Don't have, your problem is the multifuntion switch.
BUT do this test with brake switch off.

OK> I hope this can be useful on your problem.

I say. Yes because a 3rd brake light use a individual wire or signal from the brake switch.

Because the rear lights use the same bulb. to brake and turn signal.

Check your fuses, if all ok then the switch on your brake pedal is at fault, Look at the top of the brake pedal and you will see the location of the switch.

1995 chevy s-10 pickup can't get brake lights to work.

have you checked the fuse box and both brake light bulbs?
check the microswitch on the brake pedal also. once the pedal moves downwards the switch should activate.

if you can check the resistance of the switch with a multimeter then you would expect to see low resistance once you press down on the switch.

Chevy S-10 brake lights stay on all the time

The brake light switch is located is located under the
dash, at top of the brake peddle.
To test the sw, use a 12v test light check for constant power out of the switch, with nothing else on. If there's pwr. out replace the switch.
Hope this helps. Good luck
