Unlock driver or passenger door twice, in other words, turn key twice. If u still can't disengage it, u can remove it. The alarm control box is in the dash behind the lights switch. Very hard to access but if u manage, u will see two big wires leading into it. Cut them both and tape em together to bypass the alarm. Most times its the switches for the hood or trunk that are defective due to the fact the qwires get loose or frayed over the years.

2000 Dodge Intrepid is equipped with an alarm system that is triggered
when unauthorized entry is attempted. In some situations, such as having
the Intrepid valet parked or when it is being serviced by a mechanic,
the alarm system needs to be disarmed so it doesn't go off. Disarming
the alarm will prevent it from being activated until it is armed again.
