i had a ranger same problem i replace everything i could think of except for the crank shaft postioning sensor! a ob2 meter was hook up to the computer in the truck it sent a code and i was able have it repaired. that was the second time, the first time my battery got disconnected, so the computers code got wiped out i didnt no two months later i put it back in the shop they got the code that time! good luck
Hi Mr. Wilde, if you were given a code from your OB2 Senor, you can take that code to Pep Boys or Auto Zone who I prefer. Auto Zone will take the code and explain to you what it means. They can also recheck your car or truck if they have time and the correct hook up to check the OB2 sensor or the jack that is located under the dash board. They can then print out for you the codes and the reason why the code has came up and how to fix your problem. It never matters how old or how many miles is on your vehicle. Let me know how that worked for you.
you should take your car to a shop where they will use and ob2 connector which will give you specifics on why the code has come up...you can also buy an ob2 connector at a store and try it yourself but it would probably be cheaper to take it to a shop
you will need a OB2 code reader. plug in turn key on press read or link. it will give dtc trouble code look up code which willput you in the neighborhood of problem. when problem is solved reconnect code reader peress erase code . If going for reinspection make sure you turn ignition on and off close to 100 times to simulate trips if it doesn;t come back on problem solved. if you dont simulate that cycle and go for reinspection it will come up not ready. Hope this helps.
