Head gasket? Is coolant backing out of the radiator
expansion tank? May be it's oil getting into your
radiator.

Overheating cooling runs into reservior 02 civic

I have ran into this problem before the heater system flows around the thermostat keeping it closed . Check heater valve in closed position that the outward hose is cold. Honda engineers think that you do not need the thermostat to open during winter operation. This allows the car to get interior heat faster.

My heater blowing cool air want blow warm or hot air

check top and bottom hose for heat if the top hose hot and bottom hose cold the thermostats not opening,or you may have a leak from a hose or water pump, maybe only a small leak but that would cause the system to lose pressure and lose heat from your heater at worst the head gasket may have blown

I have a 98 honda civic dx(D16Y7) I having problems with my heating. The car gets up to normal operation temp and the upper hose is hot and the lower hose is ice cold and the heats not so great. I have...

Trace the hose that goes into the heater core from the engine and the other hose from the core back to the engine. I believe there is a valve that opens and close to let hot water circulate into the heater core. When you more the dial of the thermostat in the car it should have some resistance because it is connected to a wire that operates the valve I had mentioned. Good Luck

It seems like maybe this is a Honda problem. I have a 2003 Honda Civic EX and it has the problem with the heater not getting hot until it is being driven. AND not tomention the overheating issue. I have...

This sounds like a physics issue, essentially there is not enough pumping energy at low engine speeds. Not too much that you can go about it.

What other engine will fit a 97 civic ex?

The 96-98 Civic EX came with an OBD2A D16Y8 engine. That is the only engine that will go in as a direct replacement with your current engine ECU. It's an SOHC VTEC engine that has two extra connections not found on the other 96-98 Civic engines - a VTEC solenoid and a special oil sensor used to determine if VTEC engagement is possible. If you swap in an older Civic engine (92-95 generation) you'll have to convert the car to OBD1 (requires a special adapter hardness) and run the ECU that goes with whatever engine you use. This will break functionality of your OBD2 diagnostics port, and depending on which state you live in will cause you to fail emissions checks. If you install a D16Y8 engine from a 99-00 Civic EX, you will have to swap the intake and exhaust manifolds from your old engine to the new engine, and you will be able to continue to run your existing OBD2A wiring and ECU. The 99-00 Civic EX engines have additional sensors, since those engines are OBD2B. The easiest fix would be to find a SOHC VTEC D16Y8 from a 96-98 Civic EX, as it would be a direct plug and play replacement.

What could make my 03 civic ex overheat and cool down then overheat again while losing heat inside??? Already replaced radiator, water pump, thermostat.... motor

your heater has apparently restricted the coolant flow....hopefully a good system back flushing will cure the problem....use a flush obtained from a parts house....I would buy the hose kit for flushing as well...good luck to you

Coolant leaking into engine Compartment

Sounds like a blown coolant hose, or a faulty coolant water pump.

04 civic heater blows cold air at idle

you should have hot water on all rad. hoses when the motor is running at a norm. temp. the water is not going through the heater core like it should. you have cutoff valve bad low water are a stopped heater.try a hoter thermostat if none of the above are true.

My cars heater is not working, I have recently replace the Coolant, and the thermostat, and am not sure what to look for next. This is a 1993 Honda Civic CX 2 door hatchback.

first check to see if the hoses to the heater core are hot. if they are not hot do the following.
Check the valve where the heater core hoses go into the cab, if the valve is good , you may have to wash out the heater core by removing both hoses at the firewall and run some water through the heater core until the water comes out clean of rust and debris.
