First change the fuel filter its due anyway at 90thou plus. then you have to check sparkplugs, due anyway. then have the fuel pressure checked if it is building 30psi plus. if not the fuel pump may be the culprit.

There are 3 major problems why car can't crank.

1. Bad fuel mix.. or no fuel.
2. Bad Air & Gas compression. (air and gas intake to the cylinders are not proportionate)
3. Poor spark plugs or poor electric wiring to engine (nothing to ignite the compressed mix)

There are thousands of other reasons why a car don't start, but the above mentioned are the most common and critical.

hope it helps.

Might be as simple as the gas cap is not tight.

the CEL lamp (per your not read Operators guide)
means there is a major fault in the EFI system and engine.
the lamp means "SCAN ME NOW" or guess for ever what is wrong.
easy huh and all dirt cheap scan tools work on suzuki.
scan it.
post the DTC errors.

the CEL also flashes running to warn you of the CAT $$$$ burn up.
that too , is in the oper. guide.
lost it, its here.
read it for 4 bucks here.

Error code 340 & 457

  • P0340 - Camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction.
  • P0457 - Evaporative emission control system leak detected (fuel filler cap loose/off)

There is a bulletin #0398 posted on 05/12/2003 for P0457 - Malfunction indicator lamp (mil) illumination with diagnostic trouble codes p0442, p0455, p0456, p0457, p1442 or check fuel cap lamp illuminated with diagnostic trouble code p0457.

I'd suggest checking with your local dealer, as it may be a fix that is covered by the dealer.

I have a 2002 Honda Civic and the malfunction indicator lamp is on and my speedometer and odometer are not working at all. Any advice?

I would look in the owners manual and check the fuses for the guage cluster.
also take the vehicle to a local parts store and they should be able to check the codes for you so that you can narrow down the problem.
and if the light goes on for a few days then goes off you might want to check that your fuel cap is tight.

good luck, hope this helps

Hi - I am having problems with my 04 honda accord ... the malfunction indicator is flashing... can anyone help? I am told it might have to do with the O2 Sensor. How do you fix that?

Make sure the gas cap in on TIGHT. The cap may be on snug, but make sure you turn it until you hear at last three clicks (indicating the the cap is TIGHT).
