We just purchased a 2005 Buick LaCrosse, but heard through the grape vine that a recall had been issued previously because the timing belts did not hold up due to the rubber they were made from. please help.

Well, it's a good idea to change the timing belts every 80,000 mi. or so, and sooner under severe service. However, I have not heard about Buicks from the 2005 model year having a particular problem with the timing belts, more than any other brand.

I read over the gasoline engine recalls and didn't see it listed.

Hi - if you purchased a CX or CXL then it doesn't have a timing belt. It would have a timing chain because those vehicles came with the 3.8 litre overhead valve engine. The CXS came with the 3.6 overhead cam. Nothing to replace on the CX and CXL cars, not sure about the CXS.

One high beam not working 2006 Buick lacrosse

Sampson, sounds like a bunt out bulb, which will need changed.
If you feel comfortable doing it yourself. Basically three screws, and you have to pull one plastic fastener from the fascia (bumper) and pull the bumper back a bit, and pull the assembly out. I believe it is in the manual, not bad to do. I will post a link to tell or show you how to do it. Press the helpful button

Serpintine belt diagram 2005 buick lacrosse

If there is no decal under your hood somewhere, you can usually get them by wrapping the belt, first, around the crank pulley, and then work your way around, putting flat sides to flat pulleys, and ribs to ribs. There may be a couple of different ways to go, but you'll figure it out.
