We just purchased a 2005 Buick LaCrosse, but heard through the grape vine that a recall had been issued previously because the timing belts did not hold up due to the rubber they were made from. please help.

Hi - if you purchased a CX or CXL then it doesn't have a timing belt. It would have a timing chain because those vehicles came with the 3.8 litre overhead valve engine. The CXS came with the 3.6 overhead cam. Nothing to replace on the CX and CXL cars, not sure about the CXS. Hi - if you purchased a CX or CXL then it doesn't have a timing belt.
