Question about 1998 Nissan Frontier

The ac makes a noise

When I looked under the hood I could see the front part of the compressor going in & out every time the unit cycled ...up untill recently I never heard anything noticeable but this now sounds like metal to metal and some times the thing sound s like a big burp noise while I am driving...I get the feeling something is about to tear up ...The mechanics that I have gone to cant seem to make it do it...That is typical...ANY CLUE ??

Location of the Ac low pressure switch 2007 Mkz

The low pressure switch (also known as the AC compressor switch) will be under the hood, it will be located in the low side AC line from the AC compressor, this is the larger of the two lines from the AC compressor. See picture below, looks like it has a three wire connector. Also what is the AC doing that makes you think this switch is defective? Cycling on and off constantly?

1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue just replaced AC Compressor and front struts. New tires. Makes a sound kind of like a cessna when accelerating. Becomes kind of prominent from 30-40 mph on up and increases in

It sounds like it could be a bad serpentine belt or the serpentine belt tensioner pulley may have worn out. The faster the motor runs, the more the sound should increase. If that sounds like a possibility, check out the link below and look through the choices to see if any descriptions sound familiar.

It\'s not a major disaster at all, but should be looked at as soon as possible. You don\'t want a domino effect.

Best wishes!!

Noise under hood - no a/c

Did you look under the hood or just hear it and not inspect for the source. Do not drive this until the noise source is found, if the AC compressor is frozen up it will burn the drive belt off.

Jeep cherokee when in drive, front right under the hood clicks and the RPM's kick for about 2 seconds this cycles about every ten seconds.

its hard to say is your ac compressor kicking on i need more details on where the clicking is coming from ac compressor is a guess due to it raising rpms when turned on and makes clicking noise turning on and off

Dodge A/C makes clicking sound under hood

If the noise is the ac clutch bearing you can replace the ac clutch without replacing the compressor on most models.

2004 ford expolorer air conditioning will not stay on

I would suspect the AC compressor cycling switch (located in low pressure line from compressor) or a AC cutoff wide open throttle relay ( in under hood fuse and relay center) would be causing this problem.

Very loud clanging noises started while driving

Try to remove the belt for the ac and see if you still hear the noise, as it sounds like you may have blown the seal or bearing out of the ac compressor , not sure just a guess.

Engine reved loudley while driving at maintained speed

hi there, the first place i would look is the idler pulley on the front of the engine when the bearing wear out the tend to make funny noises like that or the ac compressor clutch is slipping and also the timing belt is behind a cover cant be seen but any belts you see on the front of motor are your regular belts
