The exhaust could be leaking on the blanking plugs where the oxygen sensors are usually situated, replace these copper washers.

How to change crankshaft sensor on Range Rover sport 3.6TDV8

If it is the model I am thinking of it is around a 26-hour job...the whole body must be unbolted from the chassis and lifted off. Then the turbo removed and the exhaust manifold removed. Then you can just get to the sensor. This sounds ridiculous I know but that's Range Rover for you.

It sounds lk a manifold leak or something on the right side and I can't find out if that's it or not

Ticking and goes away? exhaust manifold leak. Most times a bolt broke. You can find it. Look for black spots around the exhaust and engine.

1996 land rover discovery intake manifold gasket

oil from the pcv valve going into your intake manifold will cause a gasket to swell. but it should not be to the point where it's noticeable. you should probably replace the intake manifold gasket at this point.

My car sounds like a tractor i have changed manifold and gaskitts but it still sounds like its blowing from under manifold

Probably a blown head gasket. Don't drive it far sounding like this as it can damage the head itself. The solution is to replace the head gaskets. In all likelyhood the heads will need skimming to restore a good sealing face. This is also a good time to check things like lifters and camshaft. Use aftermarket head bolts as the factory bolts rely on yield point to set the torque and are notorious for not holding down properly.
