Electric fan not running

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 4WD Automatic 4.0 It overheats because the electric fan won't come on when the temperature gets over 210. Is there only one sensor and where is it located? I have checked all fuses and hot-wired the fan to make sure it was not bad. Any help is appreciated.

My automatic fan does not work properly . The automatic fan itself is fine but won't turn on, there has to be a switch or thermostat thats messed up somewhere. took off the headlight, overflow tank and other parts trying to figure it out. Checked the fuse box, it gets power. Help! Its starting to get warm and its hard to drive without it trying to overheat. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

There is a relay behind the right (passenger) headlight that you have to remove the whole bumper, grill and headlights. That could be your problem. It is the relay for the coolant fan.

So this link doesn't work. Remove the passenger headlight and drill a 3" hole to locate the electronic fan relay. Replace it and your fan should start working properly.

How do i test coolant temp sensor

This is normally the fan relay which is fried. It can be that the fan is pulling too much current , which causes the relay to fry. It is a good thing to change both fan and relay.
If the sensor is faulty, then you won t see coolant temperature on the instrument panel.

1999 grand cherokee laredo overheating when idling for 15 min. or so. Not when driving, everything ok. radiator replaced about 8-9 months ago, water pump pretty new, and extra electric fan worked on about...

Chanches are it is probably the fan. Anything over 15 miles an hour the fan is no longer needed. I would get a cheap hydrometer and make sure your antifreeze is still good.

Radiator fan fuse location 1999 grand cherokee

the fan relay is located under the passager side headligh.t this relay controls the a/c and raditator fans. all jeep and chyrlers garge opens a 4"x4" hole to get to it; this prevent them from removing the front bumper. you can do this i open the hole and replaced it myself. the light will cover the hole back up.

Hey i have a 2001 grand cheroke and its a brand new fan, were can i find the switch to turn it on at

there won't be a switch,, its automatic,, if its electric,, and is run by a relay located in the under hood fuse box, if you have 2 fans, one is for the ac, and it will start up when the ac is turned on

you electric fan probably isnt working with vehicle warmed up lift hood and watch temperature gauge when it starts to over heat check to see that fan is working if not it could be the fan relay or fan itself if the fan does turn on its most likley the thermostat

It is possible that there is a bad temperature sensor. Have it put on a diagnostic machine and possibly reset all codes.

Jeep Grand Cherokee running hot. I've changed the

Check your radiator for external and internal obstructions (leaves, bugs etc on the a/c condenser or leaves between the condenser and radiator, rust or calcium deposits inside the radiator core all cause loss of heat transfer)
Also make sure that the system is full and that the electric fan and the clutch fan are operating properly. (electric fan should come on just above normal operating temp and clutch fan should not be "freewheeling" above temp either)
Note: If you need to have the radiator flushed, do it separately from the engine. especially the inline 6 and 4 engines rust up inside and if the system is flushed with the radiator connected, the debris will pack up inside it and actually can worsen the condition.

Over heating when sitting at idle for a short while

It sounds like it may be your electric cooling fan. When the car is sitting idling does the fan behind the radiator ever come on? If not then this is your problem. Your car doesn't overheat when it moving because you're passing air through the radiator with the movement of the car. The problem could be the fan itself, the fan relay, or a temperature sensor.
