sounds like u have an e4od trans with a torque converter that is slipping when it try's to lock in. if you can live with it drive it if not have a new or rebuilt torque converter put in with a new seal. fords e4od trans have had all updates and modifications as of 1995. mine has been shifting ruff for the last 4 years. I will drive mine until it quits if it does.

I have replaced the engine in the truck, it runs outstanding, however the trans mission wont engage now, I don't believe I have missed any connections, and it was operating fine before the swap, what have...

Check the Shift linkage at the trans to see if it moves when you move the shifter in the cab. if its moving then check the electrical connections for the switch on the side of trans and the other large round one going to the trans. also recheck your torque converter to see if it is spinning when the engine is running.

How do you remove a transmission out of a 1995 Lincoln town car. The engines a 4.6

1 jack car up far enough to work under car use jack stands to support care during work for safety
2 Disconnect all fluid lines and electrical wires.
3 Disconnect trans from engine leave one bolt loosen on right and left side
4 place floor jack trans for support
5 disconnect drive shaft from transmission (there are two point in this process disconnect from rear axle housing an slide the drive line out from trans if this does not work disconnect drive line ujoint closes to trans also
6 Disconnect any trans linkage and supports remove bolts from
trans engine connection while supporting the trans with floor jack. while removing trans pull backward and be aware that the toque converter is in the front housing of trans and will fall out if front of trans is facing to far downward.
I recommend you use an auto manual to read up on this process before taking it on.

Jeep grand cherokee 1995 4.0 engine laredo. The transmission does not shift to high until I get to 50mph instead of 40mph. Also when I release gas pedal the rpm does not drop to 750 immediately, it lingers...

I'd check the throttle position sensor, map sensor and all linkage and cables that control the transmission. Could be a problem with one of those items or, you may have a problem either with the converter in the trans, the solenoid that operates trans converter lockup or possibly even the switch on the brake pedal. Do not just change anything I mentioned because I mentioned them, test each item for proper operation and if "stuck" with trans testing, have a good trans shop do a diagnostics on it for you.

Engine and trans problem

Could be the torque converter is locking up when it should not be.
Pull the TCC fuse and try it.
or....unplug the electrical connector at the trans and try it.
Any improvement means the torque converter or its control may be the trouble.

1995 jetta 4 cyl. trans fluid coming from bell housing. possible converter seal? I was told it's necessary to remove engine and trans together. is this true? first vw repair for me. thanks

It is most like the front pump seal, or converter seal. You can remove the transmission without removing the motor. It's a tight fit.

Sounds like the torque converter clutch is locked up. Do you know if you have a three speed or four speed trans?

1995 pontiac grand am flywheel repair

may depend on your engine but the last one i did I was actually able to take all the trans bell housing bolts out exept the top 2(leave them just loose) and of course all the converter bolts. then the trans separated away from the motor just enough for me to reach the flywheel bolts and get them out and do a slip and slide move. no trans removal necessary. tight yes--but still worth it
