I need to know where the spark plugs and distributer cap is located on my 1998 Lexus es300

Hello, the Lexus 3.0 litre engine has no distributor or cap. There is an individual ignition coil on top of each spark plug, all of which are located on top of the engine. There may be a removeable trim cover over the engine making these harder to see untill you remove it for access.

How to Replace a Distributor Cap in Toyota?

Its a plastic cap and and on its top the sparks wires get connected.A small plastic rotor spins inside the distributor cap, firing each spark plug as it rotates. If the distributor gets faulty there the engine may not perform well. in most cases it has been noticed that only replacing the cap does not helps but with cap the rotors also need to be replaced. The procedure is as follows:--- 1) First of all disconnect the negative battery terminal. 2) Then remove the spark-plug wires . Note:-- Before removing the spark plug wires please note down how and where the wires are connected, then only remove the connections. 3) Then on the distributor there will be a cap.remove that cap.the cap is connected by two pins.you will have to press the pins from each side to loosen the distributor cap. Then lift the distributor cap from the top. 4)Then remove the rotor From distributor The rotor is fitted with two screws.Remove the screws and loosen the rotor. 5) Then lift the rotor out from its shaft. 6) To install new rotor and cap.reverse the procedure. This will help.Thanks.

Got kno spark from park plugs

You didn't state the year, make, model or engine. So I will guess it is a 4 cylinder car... late 80s or early 90s. If the coil is external ( not under the distributor cap ) You should check for spark from the coil to ground. If there is spark, that would mean there is spark going into the distributor but not coming out. That would indicate a bad distributor cap or rotor. If the coil is under the distributor cap, then you will have to remove the distributor cap. Inspect the underside of the distributor cap, look for burnt terminals, cracks or tracking. Next inspect the rotor, it requires removal of a screw through the side of the rotor into the distributor shaft. You might have to rotate the engine to access the screw. Beyond that there are three sensors and an ignitor in the distributor, some parts stores have the equiptment neccesary to test the ignitor. A new ignitor is around $80. If you have a multimeter, you can check for resistance to the three sensors at the 8 pin plug. The ohm reading should be 350-700 ohms across the blue/green wire and the blue/yellow wire, orange/blue wire and the white/blue wire, the solid orange wire and the solid white wire. None of the sensors are available to buy, so if any of these three sensors are bad, you have buy a distributor.. best of luck.

97 dodge stratus 2.5 car turns over but does not have spark. There is fuel. I replaced the ECM crankshaft position sensor.

I would start with the rotor and cap. I just worked on one and it was the distributor was bad.

If you need to remove it and rplace it heres how.

Distributor Removal and Installation REMOVAL
  1. Remove bolt holding air inlet resonator to intake manifold.
  2. Loosen clamps holding air cleaner cover to air cleaner housing.
  3. Remove PCV make-up air hose from air inlet tube.
  4. Loosen hose clamp at throttle body.
  5. Remove air inlet tube, resonator and air cleaner cover.
  6. Remove EGR tube.
  7. Remove spark plug cables from distributor cap.
  8. Loosen distributor cap hold-down screws and remove cap.
  9. Mark rotor position for installation reference, then remove rotor.
  10. Remove two harness connectors from distributor.
  11. Remove two sets of distributor hold-down nuts and washers from studs.
  12. Remove bolt and spark plug cable mounting bracket from top of distributor housing.
  13. Remove bolt and transaxle dipstick tube.
  14. Carefully remove distributor from engine.
INSTALLATION
  1. Install rotor on shaft.
  2. Position distributor in engine and ensure O-ring is properly seated on distributor. Replace O-ring if it is cracked or nicked.
  3. Carefully engage distributor drive with slotted end of camshaft. When the distributor is installed properly, the rotor will be in line with previously marked line on air intake plenum.
  4. If engine was cranked while distributor was removed, establish proper relationship between distributor shaft and No. 1 piston position as follows:
    1. Rotate crankshaft until number one piston is at top of compression stroke.
    2. Rotate rotor to No. 1 rotor terminal.
    3. Lower distributor into opening, engaging distributor drive with drive on camshaft. With distributor fully seated on engine, rotor should be under No. 1 terminal.
  1. Install distributor hold-down washers and nuts. Torque to 9 ft-lbs .
  2. Install spark plug cable bracket.
  3. Install two harness connectors to distributor.
  4. Install distributor cap.
  5. Install transaxle dipstick tube.
  6. Install EGR tube to intake manifold. Torque bolts to 8 ft-lbs .

2001 Chevrolet Blazer spark location

Spark plugs are located on drivers side of engine and passenger side of the engine. Follow the distributor wires coming off your distributor cap. You will not be able to easily access all of your spark plugs from the top. For those pesky hard to reach spark plugs it is advised that you go through your wheel wells. You may have to remove the plastic shroud (or cut a hole in it).

How to install cap and rotor on a 2000 chevy blazer 4.3ltre v-6

Disconnect the wires and take pictures with cell phone for reference to ensure you don't cross them when reinstalling the new distributor cap. Remove the two torque screws in the distributor cap and remove the distributor cap to access the rotor. Remove the rotor by lifting straight up and inspect the distributor for any condensation and corrosion. Clean the breather screen at the bottom of the distributor before installing the new rotor which just slides back in place. Install the new distributor cap and tighten the new torque screws, make sure you do not over torque the screws since the distributor housing is plastic and prone to stripping. Reattach the spark plug wires and start the engine and idle for 5 min and go for a test drive. Good luck and you may want to also buy spark plug boot lubricant to ensure the spark plug wires are fully installed when placed back on the new distributor cap and recheck connections after test drive. Keep me posted, be glad to know your blazer is running 100% and please rate.

1987 GMC Jimmy Distributor cap and Rotor replacement

A diagram may not be needed as its a reasonably easy fix to do on your own.the distributor ca p will only fit on properly one way because at the base of the cap locaters can only fit the distributor if they line up.When doing the spark plug leads do them one at a time and if nessecary write or mark leads as 1,2 etc .The rotor can only fit on one way but put a mark on the distributor to show where the rotor was pointing when you took it off and if it still points there when the new one is fitted. When changing distributor cap and leads they have to go to the correct place.Pays to mark the outside of distributor cap where the locating bits are On the new and old one.Fit the new cap and rotor then take a spark plug lead and fit to new cap 1 at a time. You can tell by lining up the marks on the outside of the distributor cap when you hold them one on top of the other.Good luck
