Fan motor I think the fan motor has a short. The motor works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. Is there any way to check this?

If this is the heater fan motor and it gives the same symptoms no matter what the fan setting on the rotary knob then the motor will have to be removed for bench testing.

Radiator fan do not work

check the all the fuses under the dash and under the hood. if they are good then, you can disconnect the rad fan electrical connector at the fan, then using 2 jumper wires you can jumper the fan motor to see if the fan works. you jumper the fan motor just like you would jumping a car. if the fan runs then you will have to check the fan relay, sometimes you can use another relay in the relay box. if the fan doesn`t work then the rad cooling fan is defective and will have to be replaced.

Why does my fuse for the radiator fan keep blowing

This is a sign that you have a power wire that is shorted to ground. First check the power wire leading to your fan to see if there is a possible short to ground. Sometimes if the wires are not secure, they can rub up against the spinning fan or melt against the exhaust, and then possibly short against the motor or frame. If the wires appear to be o.k., then check the fan motor to see if it is bad. Try spinning the fan blade manually and if it makes noise or won't spin, replace the motor. Once you isolate the short and repair it, you should be able to install a new fuse with no problem.

My 2004 pontiac grand am cooling fan doesn't work what do i need to do

The cooling fan can be run through a self diagnostic by a dealer using a special tool called a scanner, it will then deliver back to the tech what is found, this can be any number of things, the fan motor wiring to it or the controller for the fan. Guessing is not an option and if you keep overheating this engine you will shortly need a new one.

The fan on my 2004 Grand Prix quit working 2 weeks ago. Checked fuses and that doesn't seem to be the problem. Any ideas?

if its the cooling fan at the rad then your talking about then if you disconnect the plug on the fan and run jumper wires to it directly from the battery it should run.also check the plug connection to make sure its in good condition and no corrosion.if you jump the fan motor and it doesn`t run tap the motor it should run either way if it doesn`t then the cooling fan motor needs replacing.

make sure the fan works first ,, jumper 12 volts to it, and see if it even runs,, if it does,, check the fan relay ,, which should be in the under hood fuse/relay box,, you need that fan working to keep the temp down. , once thats taken care of, flush the system using a radiator flush additive,, ( save yourself some money and do this with just water, No need to waste antifreeze) once thats done, fill it again with a 50'/50 mix,, remember,, antifreeze breaks down just like the oil in your motor does, and needs changing one in a while . if you don't know for sure that the thermostat was changed, change it,, for less than 15 bucks its worth it,, instead of a new motor .

Cooling fan doesn't work, but it works when i connect it to the battery. is it the thermo sensor and where is it located at.

check all your wires from the fan first. Look for shorts. The thermo sensor will be in your coolant system. Sometimes its the same sensor as the one that sends a reading to your instrument panel. Sometimes its different.

The fan is not working, completely off. no air, air conditioning doesn't come on

Check the fuse for the blower motor. (fan motor). If it isblown, change it. If it's not, you may need a new fan motor. Check to see if power is present at the fan motor. If it is, then the motor is probably burnt out.

When i turn on the contol knob for the air conditioner it will not blow, i have a 2006 hummer h3.

It sounds like your fan is not getting power or the motor is shot.

You can check the fuse panel to see if there is a blown fuse. Your manual should be able to tell you where the fuse panel is and which fuse controls the AC fan.

If that doesn't work either the fan motor is fried and needs to be replaced or there is a wire between the control panel and the fan that is severed/shorted. If you can find the blower fan and you have a multimeter you can test the motor to see if its good. Let me know if you need any more help.

Fan not working on peugeot 307 02reg . works sometimes then goes off I think its just a loose wire but where is the wiring ? is it behind the central column ? could it be a wire from the fan under the...

Hi I would check the wire under the bonnet, they sometimes touch the exhaust and melt. normally when a fan go's on for a short while then cuts out you would need a new fan, if it is staying on for longer than 1 to 2 minutes then it is most likely a wire. follow the wire back from the fan to check for any suspect bad connections.

Hope this helps

Cooling Fan Fuse

Sounds like a short in the wiring, or a bad fan motor drawing too much current. Check the wiring for shorts, if none are found, replace the fan motor.
