Truck stalls when put in gear ,runs fine rest of time and can hold pedal down slightly an will keep running other that that truck seems fine.

Without more information... The RPM slows down when it is put in gear. Try applying brake and some gas pedal to keep rpm up some and see if it still stalls. If it keeps running maybe the idle speed is too low or a spark plug fouling

Raise the rpm a bit and then try .Keep adjusting a bit by bit till it doesn't stall

Feb 7, 2007 - Sometimes when I press the gas pedal seems like nothing happens car doesn't accelerate at all only it loses the power and finally comes to a Stop, and sometimes it recovers (shakily) and keeps on truckin'. ... Engine stalls or RPM fluctuates at idle up and down or dies near idle.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

The TCC solenoid in the transmission needs to be replaced. It is under the side cover. It controls the converter to lock up for better fuel mileage. If you want to drive car until you get it fixed you can un-plug the connector going to the transmission on the front of transmission. This will keep it from going to lock up mode and keep it from stalling until you can fix it. Common problem.

Try depressing slightly the gas pedal to see if the engine continues to run when you put it in gear. Might have to depredd gas pedal and brake simultaniusly. if the engine continues to run, then the problem is in the idle circuit. Try decarboning the throttle body and the idle speed control.

it looks like your engine is having an over rich fuel mixture maybe, thatswhy when you press the pedal to the floor it starts becouse you allow lots of air to help clean the mixture while cranking, also you should have black smoke in the tailpipe until it cleans up and runs fine, i think youre having a leak in one our more injectors you should check them first for proper seal under pressure these is done in an injector test machine, second it may be a defective map sensor these trucks some times have a bad map and dont give a MIL (malfunction indacator lamp) and last but more rare to be is a blocked fuel pressure regulator chek fuel pressure it should be between 38 and 45 psi and it shoul hold these pressure when you turn off the engine if pressure drops fast its injector seal problems or fuel pump check

make sure your idle air control motor is working, if you give and hold gas pedal a little will it stay running in drive.

This could be a few things. The first thing i would check is the firing order as 2 crossed leads will cause this . If this checks out ok try a compression test. A blown head gasket between 2 cylinders will also cause this. Hope ive helped
