You may need a new stepper motor In The dashboard. Or you can replace the whole instrument panel. GM realized the problem and made a new version of the stepper motor so it shouldn't fail again if replaced. To replace each individual motor you will need to be handy with a soldering iron. The motors are pretty inexpensive.

Have you had the radiator serviced and the thermatic fan oil checked? The radiator may be blocked and if the thermatic fan is faulty It wont lock up to cool your engine.

2005 chevy impala ss. car is overheating every time i stop. any suggestions for figuring out what the problem is?

Sounds like you have an electric cooling fan issue. Driving down the road will supply air to the radiator. When stopped the cooling fan supplies the air. Possible problems would be: cooling fan motor, fan relay, fuse, ECT (electronic coolant temp sensor). Check these parts first.

2005 chevy impala overheats sometimes. Replaced thermostat, coolant level is good, no leaks found. will run fine for a few days, then suddenly overheat.

I suspect you need to have your radiator cleaned at a radiator shop. This requires special tools and the use of dangerous chemicals.

Cooling fan problem

The electric fans on some vehicles dont stay on all the time. If the radiator is not burningyou then i would suspect the guage is bad. The engine would throw a code if the fan was not working properly, so im pretty sure that your fan is working properly. I hope that helps you out.
