98Crv- shuts off when I'm driving 70mph...

My 98 CRV shuts off when I'm driving from 5mph to 70mph with no horsepower and no electrical... the weird part is the car re-starts again with no problem.

Thank God for protection and I'm a skilled driver for prevention of an accident because unexpectedly with no power is a scary thought...

What I learned from this situation if this happens again is to shift my gear to neutral while car is coasting and restart the engine...

    Thanks Frank...

Ironically I just finally figured this out today and honda dealership has my car on the lift as we speak...

I wish you replied earlier last week but I guess you were busy.

My Honda 98 CRV has the exact problem.

It shuts off when I'm driving from 5mph to 70mph with no horsepower and no electrical... the weird part is the car re-starts again with no problem.

I do this as well. What I learned from this situation if this happens again is to shift my gear to neutral while car is coasting and restart the engine. Thanks.

98 honda crv wil start if jump started and then later won't start

Your battery is not fully charged and may not be accepting a full charge. Remove your battery and put it on a charger overnight. Take the battery to a parts store and have them hook it up. They will then be able to tell if it is taking a full charge or not. If this is a new battery it will take a full charge but it is still getting drained by something such as a radio not shutting off automatically, if you have that option.

Where is the clutch fan located in my 98 pathfinder?

if the fan is belt driven the center pulley would drive the fan. the clutch would at the center of the fan and fastened to the pulley. Would be silver with fins on it at the center of the fan.

If it is electric (there may be models with electric fans) there would be no belts driving the fan. instead an electric motor at the center of the fan would do the driving. more horsepower due to parasitic load on the motor, but electric motor do seize up.

I hope i covered everything good luck!

check your wiring for dirty connections or broken wires, you may have wires that are rubbed through or connectors that are not making full contact. you will need an ohm meter and check wires for continuity. a wiring diagram will be needed.
