Question about 2003 Mazda Mazda6

3 Answers

My car is having difficulty idling, this morning it died on my way to work but started right back up. The check engine light has been on for about 3 weeks. I took it to a garage to have it ran on the machine, it came up with code P2187 Lean O2 sensor on bank 1 and bank 2. I was told that cheap fuel can cause this code and the guy pretty much told me it wasn't worth fixing. The car is having trouble idling, but the guy said if I replaced the O2 sensors it would pretty much just do the same thing again in a few months. How much trouble is it to change O2 sensors and will the problem really keep coming back? I have been using premium fuel the past few months, even before the light came on.

I had that problem, my MAF was dirty so I cleaned it. I have a CAI (Cold air intake) so it was easy for water to get to it, I moved the MAF sensor to a better spot and it stopped my vehicle from Idling at crash

I have the same problem, I replace the O2 sensors and nothing??????? I have no idea what to do to take care of the problem. I have just ordered a new and improved throttle body. according to the Mazda6 forum, the throttle body on the 03 model was junk. I'll keep you posted.

On a side note, I was transferred to Richmond, VA for Columbus, OH about an 8 hour drive. I have driven back and forth about 4 times with the check engine light on and have had no problems. my email is jburnitz1099@yahoo.com if you find a solution please let me know and I will do the same.

Monday morning my car would not start. Got a jump, still nothing. Banged on the starter box, started right up. Ran around the block died shortly after and would not start again. Took the starter,...

Cheque for disconnected vacuum hoses. sometimes this happen after working around the engine, if everything looks good, start the engine press down the accelerator pedal keep the engine running about 2500 rpm for 3 minutes then let the engine idle, if the engine idle this means you need a new idle speed control motor, if the engine still dies most probable the fuel pump it's going out if you have a code reader it's possible you have some codes and this can give a good direction

My Hummer H2 2003 model had a problem starting when its warm. Like when I start it in the morning, its normal, but after driving it for a few minutes and the engine is warm, I had difficulty starting

I had this same problem with my 2003 H2, my mechanic found that the fuel diaphragm was cracked and this was allowing my truck to flood. If it was a cold start, the extra fuel would evaporate and it would start fine. It actually got to the point where I would stall at a stop light or stop sign at idle. The part was is the neighborhood of $175.00 and about 1 hour of labor to install.

My 2003 ford focus started his morning but as soon as I removed my foot from the accelerator my car would die. This happened numerous times this morning.

Your idle control valve is either dirty or bad. You should be getting a check engine light on your dash.
The idle control valve is located on your throttle body.
If you have a check engine light on you will need to plug a OBD II reader in to retrieve the code.
Please let me know what you find.

If you ever have an oil leak it really should be fixed right away unless this happened all at once. Go to a local mech or if there is an Autozone around go there and have them check the Engine Light code for you for free. You will have more info to work with.
