Question about Cadillac Escalade ESV

1 Answer

Hi Guys, I have a question about Cadillac Escalade 2007. I want to change the engine oil and I know that the easiest way - go to mechanic but I wont to do it myself. How drain the old oil from this car? I didn’t see anything on the engine\carter (normally it should be something on the carter)

The drain plug is on the oil pan on the side.

If oil level is correct, you could install a mechanical oil pressure gauge to insure you actually have good oil presure. If all is well, change oil pressure sender unit.

My son thinks his a mechanic experimenting ,place a fan as big as palm size in the air induction hose ,he start the escalade and test drive ,he heard a grinding and then knocking sound in the engine, then...

could be the oil pump has failed grinding sound then knocking sound could also be the timing is out or failing that something forren has got into the engine. check all these out and don't run the engine you are making the engine worse. if pump for the oil has gone and the engine has been run can mean a new engine. if timing belt has moved could be a new head will be needed. and pistons. failed oil pump does more damage in the long run as the hole engine needs oil.

Oil pressure guage gone goofy

Have your mechanic check the true oil pressure with a pressure gauge, and go from there. If it's good, maybe the shorting sound you heard is the wiring from the oil pressure sender on the engine to the dash. Was the sound coming from back of dash, or from the engine area, or where? Be sure and let your mechanic know.

Escalade gear oil

Depending on which front axle, "F" axle is GM part #12378261 75W90 Synthetic gear oil, must meet GM spec 9986115
"S" axle is 80W90 gear oil GL-5 spec. I dont know how to tell you to ID which axle you have so I would recommend using Synthetic oil for both front and rear axles.
The rear axle is same as the "F" axle lube as above.
