Question about 1997 Chevrolet Malibu
Hi. So recently my car has really been giving me a headache. I have a
1997 Chevy Malibu. Every so often (sometimes every 20 minutes or
sometimes every couple hours) while driving my car will start to catch,
or sputter, or skip, or misfire, however you want to put it. Half the
time it will recover and start running normally again, and half the
time it will completely die and I will attempt to successfully navigate
my way to the shoulder without power steering or brakes. But then as
soon as throw 'er in park and turn the key again, the Malibu starts up
again with any problems and I cruise along smoothly until the next time
it happens. It seems to happen the most when I am going slower and
braking or driving on bumpy ground.
Anyone have any ideas?
My problem was the fuel pump. The one I got didn't seat in the bracket like my previous one. This caused the fuel line to lose pressure. Turn off and back on, and it was fine for a while. I put a gasket spacer between the fuel pump and the bottom of the bracket (in October) and haven't had the problem since. Hope this helps.

I have a problem with my car where the build in theft system kicks on and I have to leave teh car in the on position for about 10 minutes turn it to the off position and then start it. You will see the theft light blinking and wait til it stops and disappears before trying to start it again.
