I got similar problem, intermittant, but not even the click. Seems to happen in hot weather, but did it yesterday when it was cooler out. Battery, Alternator, and Starter all tested sat. Starter test showed a slight delay. Will jump start, but only with my Ranger. Tried other vehicles for a jump start, but they can't seem to do it. I have replaced the battery terminals. The only things not checked are the wires to the starter, and the ignition itself. The early Focus are known to have keyswitch issues, so that is a possibility too.

Followup: I replaced my starter even with it checking out good and my problem went away. I suspect the solenoid on the starter was sticking in hot weather.

The check gauge is on because one of the gauges is reading out of the normal range, this can be the volt meter the engine temperature or oil pressure, watch all of them when the light comes on. Refer to the owner's manual rod moore info on this warning. If you need a manual you can download one here, it is free.

My van wont start

There is pretty much only four things that can cause an engine to not start.

> Starting system malfunction
> Fuel system malfunction
> Ignition system malfunction
> Low or no compression due to an engine mechanical failure

All you have to do now is narrow the problem down to one of these categories and perform proper diagnosis to pinpoint the cause of the problem.

My car won't start ?

Does engine turn over when key is turned if not check battery, test with a volt meter voltage should be 13 volts or better if voltage is not high enough recharge or replace battery if voltage is goog but engine does not crank check all cables they must be clean not only on battery but on the starter..Oncethose items are completed perform a load test with a load test meter while trying to start car meter should not drop below 12 volts.if you dont have dont have a load test meter. remove starter ,have tested at any autoparts store should be no charge.if you are still haveing problems contact me at ken17402@msn.com I will continue to help you.

2001 Avalon was dead (battery). Won't start or jump

If the battery is fully charged there is but one thing tjst gives you those symtoms. You simply have a bad connection at the negativbattery cable. It won't hurt to ck the positive cable also. This os a common thing when a battery is connected and idle..Always disconnect the bat neg if the the vwhicle won't be used for more than two days. If possible, don't charge your dead battery with the alternator of the vehicle. It could very possibly cause charging problems. The clickinf is from insufficient voltage and jump stating with te dead battery still in place doesnt work because the goog and bad batteries are try to balance again, causing low voltage/amps to the starter. Good Luck. Sorry about the lesson, habit.

Bulb is goog but the left brake light and signal

Does it have trailer light plug. After market trailer plugs cause all kinds of problems and should be removed and replaced when they do. Also check the bulb in another socket to make absolutely sure it is bad. I have been fooled more than once by newer bulbs that break connection towards the bottom and you can't see it
