Make sure all the air has been bled from the cooling system. Make sure there is nothing restricting the airflow through the radiator ( mud etc ). If ok, possible defective water pump impeller or restriction internal to the radiator not allowing the coolant to flow effectively. Worst case would be a defective headgasket

My 1990 3.0 Toyota 4 runner won't start in the cold

If you have spark and fuel, the next stop would be either the crank position or camshaft position sensors.Either one of those can stop the engine from firing.

I put a new starter in my 1990 toyota 4runner after it had sat approx 2 years 6 months ago and started it now after putting insurance on it last week and buying a new battery all it does is click not try...

make sure wires are clean and tight and battery is fully charged and posts are clean and tight, check starter by bumping it(turning key on and touching a RUBBER handled screwdriver across pos and neg bolts on back of starter)but be CAREFUL this will cause sparks and damage the screwdriver if starter does not turn its not getting juice,or just bad or not fitting right.

The 1990 Pickup will not stop. I replaced the starter 2 months ago and yesterday it will no longer start. It just clicks once. I brought the starter back to NAPA and had it tested and it works fine. What...

Sounds like a battery if it just clicks once. You hardly get a whir whir out of the starter right? The lights may appear somewhat normal because they don't need much power to turn on but the starter needs LOTS of power to turn over. The average life of an alkaline battery is about 6 years.Good luck! 1990 toyota camry won't start

Usually if you hear the starter solenoid click but the starter doesn't crank, its the starter. And since it was after a trip that is usually when starters are bad when they get hot.
