Overheating on the SW20 (Mr2) is usually down to one of the following:

Air lock:From a badly bled coolant system (Easy fix)
Thrmostat failure:Preventing the coolant getting to the front radiator(Easy fix)
Water pump failure:(Water pump can be fubar(Not so easy a fix but not too expensive for the mechanically minded)
Head gasget:It can go,when it does it blows all the coolant out of the radiator(Expensive to fix and not easy at all)
Radiator filler cap:Common fault on older cars but less than 10 bucks to fix(Not even a problem)
Heater pipe leak:They don't call them the pipes from hell without good reason.(Pain in the neck if they go,not expensive to repair but takes ages)

Hope that clears it up a bit :)

I have a 1991 normally aspirated MR2 with about 113,000 miles. I've never ever had overheating problems. Even when racing the car I've never had it overheat. The radiator is in the front of the car.

I have a 1993 mr2 and need an engine loom diagram for when i fit the replacement engine

I can help! Are you doing a N/A to turbo swap? Or just engine for engine? Mostly year for year will be the same...JDM or USDM. Depending on year...My first suggestion would be to go to Toyota and buy the 2 Big Green Books for your year. They have FULL wire diagrams amongst COUNTLESS things you will need to know. 2nd...I would go to MR2 tech .com...They have most of the pages of the BGB there. Anything you need let me know! Ive done many swaps in the 2nd gen. Good luck!
