We have an 86 toyota landcruiser sahara turbo diesel automatic, previously transmission fluid leaked out while going up a hill. Repaired twice, lasts a few days, then leaks out again afew days after repairs. We would appreciate some advice.

If there is a vent on the transmission, make sure it's clear. If leaking from a shaft seal, always put a bit of grease on the seal surface when installing. Make sure there isn't a deep wear groove on the shaft and that the shaft itself is not wobbling as that would indicate that an internal support bearing has failed. If leaking from a pan or cover gasket, make sure the part is flat and not warped, If slightly warped you can often use a double gasket there.

Hi Kositsin,
Have your shop check the bearings adjacent to where the leakage is apparent. If the oild seals keep breaking down, there must be another reason causing it.

Fuel economy HJ75 landcruiser ute 1989 with turbo

Check that the intercooler is in good condition (no cracks or leaks) and the hoses are tight at the hose clamps . Next talk to a diesel pump repair specialist as you may have to re-tip the injectors and re-calibrate the pump for the extra air that the turbo produces. Check that you have the correct turbo for the diesel

1990 model hilux very gutless going up hills is a 2.8 diesel

Actually a 2.8 diesel should be fairly weak on hills, especially if this is an automatic transmission.
You could check the fuel filter, or change to lower profile tires that give more power, but really turbo charging is the best way to really get lots of power out of such a small diesel.
Diesels not only have less hp then petrol engines, but also a narrower torque range.

Starts first time, no smoke on normal running, then rev up and white smoke comes out??? no wrong feul!!! changed air, oil and feul filters, but still throwing out white smoke on reving... can anyone help?...

It could be a coolant or transmission fluid leak in the combustion chamber. Check your coolant and transmission fluid to see if one or both are low. White smoke from the exhaust is a classic symptom of a blown head gasket, have your cooling system pressure checked. If that checks out good then have your transmission checked.

95 Landcruiser Turbo warning light comes on under heavy load

If you are "lugging" the engine, you will get increased exhaust temperature (EGT), this will trigger your "turbo" light(not a good thing), ideally you should have an aftermarket "pyrometer" fitted to your car, this will show you the optimum revs etc you should be using in any given circumstance.Or revise your driving technique, ie change down gears earlier.
The turbo should be idled down after long trips or heavy towing, this allows the oil temps to stabilise and turbine speeds to stabilise, thus idle for 2-5 minutes.
