Yep i agree with conepopka you may also have a wire about 3mm in diameter which conects both slide actuaters which may have become dislodged as it is of a simple hook construction investigate it yourself it is quite a simple mechanism and can be diagnosed easily by removing the few screws in the cover on the outer side of the seat

Sounds like a cable problem. There is a Y cable that runs from the inner side of the passenger seat behind the plastic trim. This is a single cable. Goes under the seat and splits to go to each side. When the seat is folded forward it pulls this cable and releases both sliders. Toyota Part Number 72210-89105. It is about 30 dollars. check out these pictures: http://www.yotatech.com/showthread.php?t=101496. If you have anyother questions let me know.

Fix rusted broken small spring under passenger seat it slides back and forth

go to your local hardware store, parts store and buy an expansion spring. cut it to length and bend a new tab on the cut end . fit it to the lever and it will work a treat. Most auto seats have the spring but you will have to upend a seat to get it out as it costs too much for the junk yards to do it.

Looking forward from just under the passenger side torsion bar mount.

The wet part is the fuel filter. The thing with the holes is the mount. Don't ask why it's there. they could have placed it at a better location.

I know this post is a bit older, but... You have to remove the right most vent. --To do this slide a thin, flat screwdriver on the tops and bottoms of the vent to press the spring clips. Behind it is one last bolt (10mm) that holds it on.
Hope it helps sammy

Removal of the driver seat of my 1988 acura legend

I'm not certain of the layout of the bolts on your particular model, but there should be 4 bolts, one at each end of the seat tracks (the things the seat slides back and forth on), attaching the tracks to the floor. You may need to slide the seat back to access the front bolts, and forward again to get the back ones. Tilt the seat back right forward to allow you to get the seat out the door. If the seat has electric controls there will be some plugs to disconnect under it. If there are any yellow coloured plugs, DO NOT disconnect them without disconnecting the negative terminal off the battery and waiting for 5 minutes. The yellow plug is an airbag system plug, and if the battery is not disconnected the airbags could potentially deploy. Make sure the battery remains disconnected for the entire time that the yellow plug is disconnected, and reconnect the battery AFTER the yellow plug. If there isn't a yellow plug, don't worry.

Hope this helps.
