I have the same year/make of car with same problem -- a 2001 Olds Alero, the ANTI LOC, TRAC OFF, and SERVICE ENGINE SOON lights keep coming on for no apparent reason. If anyone else has successfully dealt with this, I'd appreciate knowing what the resolution was.

ya mine did the same ,soon as the service vehicle soon light came on then the abs wood come on which shuts off my traction control so i think its the brakes nee to be done or abs sensors have a bad wire possibly, but i just run it 204000kms and still goes and i have problem with the blower fan only works on full blast?

I have a 2004 Alero and it is doing the same thing. All three lights come on like daily. A mechanic put his electronic detector and he stated it was a sensor that needed to be replaced for the wheel area. How do you find that if no books are available for my year of vehicle

You have a problem known to many alero and pontiac grand am cars you have a bad wheel bearing, this is a common problem with these cars and they will not do a recall on need to have your front wheel bearing hubassemblies replaced its not a bad job can be done by a decent backyard mechanic but a lot cheaper then going to the dealer, just save your reciepts in case they do recall your car for this problem they will reimburse you for your cost. If you have service engine light on, trac. off light and the ABS light on the same time, you may be able to get it fixed my reprogramming the power control module (with updated software calibration).

What would give a check engine light and antilock brake light but when checked with a scanner it comes back as no codes found ? its an oldsmobile alero

Are you sure its the "Check engine" light and not the "service vehicle soon" light. They are quite different. Only the check engine light will set a code, either current or history. The ABS will also set a code, but will also illuminate the service vehicle soon light. Aleros are notorious for bad front wheel bearings, which contain the wheel speed sensors for the ABS system. They also have issues with the wiring harnesses going to the wheel speed sensors. Have the front wheel bearings checked for excessive play first, then I would suspect the harness, especially if the lights tend to come on more so when its raining or wet out.

I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. What does it mean when the anti brake light, service engine soon, and traction off light comes on at the same time?

I am assuming its not the service engine soon light it is probably the service vehicle soon light, There are 2 lights service vehicle soon upper left side, and service engine soon upper right side.

When all these come on at the same time it is the wheel bearing sensor. Usually the wheel bearing needs to be replaced which houses the sensor. A sure way to check is to press your sls button by your shifter and see if the light goes out, If it does not, u will need to have a wheel bearing put in.

Bad acceleration on 2001 alero

I assume you have no check engine light, or service engine soon light on.
Start with the fuel filter that should be replaced every 30,000 miles.
The filter is located under the vehicle between the the fuel tank and engine.

When I start my 2001 alero the anti-lock, traction light, service engine soon, service vehicle soon lights all stay on all the time. But my car seems to be running fine. Why is this?

the anti-lock and traction lights will come on together if there is a common problem with the two, since they are closely related. may be a wheel speed sensor or something similar. the service engine soon light indicates a problem with the engine computer, can be anything from an emission system problem or an engine performance problem. all of these lights can come on with no apparent running problems on the car. the service vehicle soon light is basically a maintenance reminder, an oil change light. take the car into a shop and have the codes read for these lights.

Service Vehicle Soon Light comes on and sometimes stays on in my 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. Heater fan and rear defroster doesn't initially work and later works. It is a 2.4 Liter, 4 cylinder engine. Manual...

I think you have multiple issues - don't think they are all related.
Have the engine codes scanned and find out what is causing the check engine light to come on first.

This depends on which light you are reffering to. There is a sercive engine soon light, and a service vehicle soon light, as well as other warnig lights.

Service vehicle soon light is on, scanner at gm dealer read no codes. what all sensors activate this light. aso trac light is on. traction button(in stupid place) doesn't work

ok there is a difference between the check engine light and service vehicle soon light. The service vehicle soon light comes on when a bulb is out on the daytime running lights. Check your bulbs if there is one out and you put a new one in it will most likely take car of problem.
