The type of transmission fluid should be written by the end of transmission dipstick. clean the dipstick and it should be written there. (eg mercon, etc)

A slipping tranmission

Changing fluids will not help a slipping transmission. Sometimes it makes it worse. You can try some additives like Lucas Transmission additive but most likely you are looking at a trip to the transmission shop. You almost always end up getting a full rebuild. Once they pull it out and check it the cost is only slightly higher to rebuild the entire transmission. Try a local shop with a good reputation over a national one and you might get a better deal. Make sure you ask about the warranty.

How do you change a transmisson

How about having the fluid changed first? Chrysler recommends doing it twice in a row. Use the correct ATF+4 fluid.

Oil leak

you must have the engine cleaned (externally), after that you may figure where the oil is coming from. Also it sounds like your transmission is slipping, check the transmission oil level and make sure the oil leak isnt coming from the transmission. Driving the vehicle with slipping trans will cause severe damage. Hopefully this helps!!

Hi and Welome to fixya.com.

Changing the Gearbox oil is fine but this is nothing to do with your clutch slipping, sounds has if you need to replace the whole clutch unit.
Best regards.

Did you have it serviced or rebuilt, If you had it rebuilt I would take it back to the trans shop for warranty repairs.
If they just changed the trans filter I don't think it would cause your problem. You just have bad luck with the slipping trans
