ELectric window motor replacement on 2004 Ford Freestar

Since the framework covers up all the parts, I'd like a diagram of what's under the framework, so I can replace the motor, which I have already purchased.
I cannot seem to find such a diagram. Some instructions on the process would be helpful. I've been told one has to hold the regulator in place while doing this installation. I don't know what a regulator looks like nor how to hold it. If I could see the whole set up I imagine it would be a fairly simple task. I think the factory uses rivets to install the thing, but I could probably reinstall some nuts and bolts with thread lock.

Driver's side window intermittantly stops working. When selected to go down, the window kind of hesitatetingly goes down and sometimes stops. Then it is dead. By pushing down on the window itself, I can either get it all the way down with some force; or get it in sequence with the drive motor and then it will work. Going up, the window seems fine. My guess is that there is an electrical dead spot or that a torque sensor (not sure if there is such a thing in this set up) that is turning the motor off on the way down.

First the passenger window intermittenly worked usually after I fiddled with the up down button. Now both the passenger and the driver motors seem to be dead. I checked the fuses and measured 12 volts right at the motor. I believe this is just another fine quality product from Ford.

Hi! I have the same problem. Suddenly the passenger window stuck. I checked the fuse and it is OK, when the switch is activated, produces a "click" sound in the motor. I removed the door cover but could not see inside because of the metal wall !! I touched the motor and it was hot, as it received the electric current but seems to be stuck. I would like to know if I have to change only the motor or the whole elevator. Does it need to be done by a specialist or could it be done at home ? Are there any pictures of the procedure ? Regards from Monterrey, México. José. pepevaladez@gmail.com

You will have to drill out the rivets that attach the regulator to to the door and glass. They are 1/4 inch rivets. The new regulator may be slightly different from the old one. One of the holes may have to be reamed out. Good luck.

SOURCE: how do you remove the armrest on the front seats?

The armrests have covers that can be removed. Locate the zipper on the arm rest. Once you unzip it pull it toward the back of the arm rest and this will expose the one bolt that hold the armrest on. You will need a large torx and rachet to get it off. Once you take out that bolt the armrest will come right off.

You just have to look for it. It should be an 11mm nut. The one in the center can sometimes be a rel pain to get to. I have had a few where I had to remove the right valve cover from the engine to get to the nut because there was no other way to get my hand in there. (Of course, you have to remove a whole bunch of other stuff to get the valve cover off) Once this is out of the way, you can usually use a socket with a swivel and extension to remove the nut.

Service brake master cylinder on 2004 Ford Freestar SE.I am replacing the rear brakes and will need to bleed them But I am unable to locate/get to the master cylinder..Help

The master cylinder is on the drivers side, under the windshield wiper cowling. I remove the cowling. Remove the wiper arms, Remove the six screws in the cowling, pull it off. Remove the ten MM nuts by the windshield, remove the 13 MM bolts on the fire wall. Unplug the wiper motor. Pull out and up at the same time. This would be a good time to replace the valve cover gaskets also. They always leak on the back side, because of the heat.

Why won't my drivers window work after replacing window motor ?

Is the "new" window motor even trying to move the window, can you hear it? If it makes no noise, then it's electrical and it probably a bad ground connection.

Why won't my window work

Check for:
(1) Bound mechanism - try testing the motor before installing, see if you can move the window up and down by hand.
(2) Good ground. Make sure you have both 12V & ground at the motor.
(3) Bad replacement motor. Although unlikely, you could have gotten a bad part. Try bench testing with a 12V battery.
