The way I used to do it is to take out the #1 spark plug, put your finger near the hole and click the engine over. When air begins coming out of the cylinder, look at the rotor in the distributor. You should begin with the number one spark plug wire just ahead of where the rotor is when the compression stroke starts.

How can I adjust time timing on 91 ford F150 5.8L

let the engine get to normal operating temperature, then pull the spout (spark plug out) connector. Then hook up your timing light and rotate the distributor until you're at the timing spec you're looking for. I believe 10* BTDC is the OEM spec for the 5.8. Once you've got your timing set, put the spout back in. and you're set!

Took truck ford f150 to shop and told me the electronic fuel return is bad and no parts aval. Can I put a regular carberator on 85 straight 6 ford

Yes. but it will make several things not work the same. The catalytic converter is designed for the EFI & could be damaged by the conversion, not to mention the chance that you couldn't pass a smog test if necessary. The fuel pump would have to be changed, or modified to reduce the pressure or it would damage the float needle on any carburetor. The ignition timing would have to be refigured to compensate for the difference & the valve timing may even need to be moved a tooth or so.

A trip to the salvage yard or some on-line shopping might be more beneficial. There are also aftermarket EFI system add-ons in the performance catalogs that will adapt. There are some Ford Truck parts places on line that may be able to help also.

Dealers seem to do what is the easiest for them, helpful when it suits them so the part could be at another dealership so you may want to just check a few. I had the same problem with OEM parts & ended up buying from a dealer 30 states away online & got everything my local dealer said was not available..
good luck
