If you set your parking brake to the first "click" or as soon as the pedal catches, it will turn off the DRL's but not actually engage the brake. Make sure you stop at the very first point the emergency brake pedal will stay down.

Headlamps not working, fuses o.k., bulbs ok, replaced switch ok 98 chevy cavalier w/ daytime running lights . 2 relays on harness between headlamps one is for fog lamps, not sure of the other , cannot get...

are your daytime running lamps working. if they are according to the schematic there are 4 relays, fog lamp, fog lamp cut off, isolation, and daytime running lamp; 2 fuses: right and left, that supply volts to the headlamps. it's a little confusing though, because these schematics might have some mistakes. anyway, it looks like the drl relay.grounds the headlamps when the drl control in the micro processor located in the instrument cluster senses the headlamps have been turned on. this trips the relay and 12vdc is supplied. the dlr might be bad. otherwise, i would think you have a hardwire or connector problem.

My truck is actually a '95 C1500 but I understand that they were the same model from 88-98. I have 2 problems - both electrical. On a recent trip, I lost both low beam headlights at the same time. ...

There could be a fuse for each low beam light either under the hood or under the dash. If not, then prob both low beams are bad.

If you have daytime run lights, the following may be of help.

There is a daytime running light module that controls both low beams and the daytime running lights. The low beam bulbs may be OK. The high beams will work fine as they are not controlled through the module.

It may be possible to disable the daytime run lights by cutting the yellow wire going into the module and then connecting it to ground. Tape off the other end.

This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

How to add daytime running lights on a 2006 Toyota sienna?

Even though the Sienna is not "supposed" to be equipped with day time running lights in the US, IT IS!
Remove the under hood fuse panel cover, in the lower left hand corner of the fuse box there is an empty fuse socket to the left of the two 10 amp headlight fuses. Simply take one of your spare fuses (it doesn't mater which one, I used one of the 2 spare 30 amp fuses) and plug it into the open socket. BINGO, you now have daytime running lights! Pretty slick eh?? Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted if you need more information.

If you have daytime running lights but when you turn on your regular headlight on they do not come on. Take the bottom of your steering column off (Two Small Screws) and look at the back of your turn/dimmer switch make sure that the light blue wire is connected. The wires will break off after years of raising and lowering your steering column.

1997 Chevrolet Headlight problem

did you try removing the DRL fuse to disable the daytime running lights, and double check your bulbs and fuses for the regular headlights? I'm not much of a mechanic but I'll take that fuse box before messing with anything else.
