No spark, spark advance's are not connected or bad timeing is my guess. take a plug wire off put a spare spark plug in it ground it to the engine an turn the truck over, should have a blue snapping spark (may need a second person to help). the spark advances are located on the back of the throttle body looks like 2 vacume hoses check to see if those are connected, if theres no spark check the ignition coil

1987 chevy with Throttle Body... You literally have to put it to the floor to get it to start, then it'll run nice for a while thinking it'll run take it for a drive and it will shortly die on

Check all fuel lines for leaks, make sure it doesn't have bad gas in it. Listen for fuel pump when key is turned on. Change fuel filter. See if that's helps.

to relieve the brake pressure to move the vehicle , open the bleeder ******* at each wheel for a half second
but you will have to replace the failed hydro booster unit or you will get the same problem back or have no brake assist during braking

I have an 88 chev 350 5.7 liter fuel injected truck, the timing is great. the spark is great. the valves are great the plugs wires rotor and dist are great , it should run, i replaced the fuel filter...

I had an issue much like this with my Montero. By accident I found that four of the six fuel injectors failed, leaking heavily. In my case I could get the truck started after it sat several days (drying the cylinders out) after which it would run though poorly. I have since replaced the injectors and she runs/starts fine.
I hope this may assit you,
Tom

Vaccum hose diagram for 88 chevy truck. I put a 350 motor in my 88 chevy 1500 truck from a 95 suburban. I cant get the throttle body to stop idaling to high. I may need a vaccum line diagram for this motor...

it may not be a vacumn leak from a line, check the throttle shaft for movement, for example,i had a 89 1 ton 350 and my throttle shaft was moving around a lot and in order to keep it from idling high,i had to kick the throttle pedal. But also check the idle air control valve, which is the round sensor on the side of the throttle body.

1997 chev half ton wont start

Sounds like the distributor shaft is cracked. Check the cap and rotor first. But more than likely the actual shaft has a hairline crack.

I have a 88 chev 350 p/u-how do I make the fuel richer or leaner?

1988 should be fuel injected. The ECM controls the fuel mixture and it isn't adjustable. What kind of problem do you have? If it is 1 ton or bigger truck it might have a carburetor. If it does, let me know, I will tell you how to adjust it.
