The timing marks on a zx3 are pretty pre fab ounce you have the timing bar(303)and the timing plug remove the crankshaft pulley and the line should be at 11 on a clock line up with o on the word front that along with the bar and plug will be able to properly find tdc for all piston heads.then run it fromthe left cam sprocket all the way round till the tensioner.

CAM. use the full words, CAM timing. for a win.
my guess, new cam belt , installation.
posted 100s of times here, and we don't have KB in USA>
not one. nor is this engine in Europe, (ouch)
why no post your country so others can match up books.
and the words inside. matching what you have.
or go ISUZU in your town, and buy the book.
1998cc engine. (HEC-2.0 is official name of it)
wiki:

a google search finds little, but google is mostly USA things.
There is a wiki on this car and says, its only sold in South Africa.
and shows. this.

I have a 2006 toyota highlander limited 3.3 engine and i need instructions on how to replace timing belt plus adjustments to cams and crankshaft

The belt replacement involves the correct allignment of the timing marks on each of the pulleysm such as crankshaft, cam, etc. If you install it and these are out of correct allignment, your mechanical timing of the main engine components is out of timing and will cause terrible damage to the inside of your engine. If you insist on changing it yourself, by all means aquire a service manual and follow the instructions exactly. As far as "adjusting the cams and crankshaft, there are no adjustments.....only the correct allingment of the timing marks as per manufacturers specs. This is a very serious repair, and mistakes are very costly. Best Wishes

Is there a ford focus timing marks single overhead cam diagram

depending on trans and engine mount type the mark my be on flywheel but generally most cars it is located on the belt pulley attached to crank rod, center bottom one on engine block. the timeing mark should be visable from top looking down. if you use a big ratchet to turn over the engine by hand and go slowly, you should see thhe marks pass as you do so.

I need a picture of the timing marks for Jeep 4.0

Timing the Cam to the Crank

There are several ways to time the cam to the crank. Be sure to check the manual before you install the timing chain or belt.

  • Some timing sprockets are properly timed when the marks face each other.
  • On others, there must be a certain number of chain links between the marks.
  • Sometimes chains have colored links that must be aligned with the marks on the sprockets.
  • Some overhead cams have a mark on the cam gear that lines up with a mark on the cylinder head when the timing mark on the damper is at the TDC mark.
Align the timing marks for the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets before removing the timing belt or chain.

If the old parts are available, carefully compare the new gears or sprockets with the old ones. Check the keyway and timing marks just in case there might have been an error made in manufacturing. Sprockets are sometimes stamped backward. Its much better to find the problem during assembly, rather than waiting until problems show up after reassembly and reinstallation.

Maintaining Valve Timing

During a valve job, it is essential to keep the timing chain or belt in place to maintain correct valve timing. Position the number one cylinder at TDC. Some overhead cam engines use a single long chain for a cam drive. The chain can be wedged against its guides with a tapered block of wood.
the chain tensioner on some ohc engines must be wedged to keep the chain in position during cylinder head removal. courtesy of nissan motors.

Some engines have a lower and upper chain. These engines do not require special attention to wedging the chain. Be sure to look for hidden head bolts and check the repair manual before removing the OHC head.

Install timing belt

Like all OHCam engines and well, like all engines, Make sure #1 is TDC on the compression side, pull timing cover and look at the 2 or 3 pulleys. They have positioning marks on both the gear and engine case. MAKE SURE #1 piston is Top dead center, ( Sweet Spot) If you haven't done Overhead cam engines before, Get the book first. After you are sure #1 is up on the compression stroke and is TDC, look at the timing gears, locate the timing marks and ensure they are alligned. If so then loosen the timing belt tentioner pully bolt slide old belt off and carefully slide new belt on. MAKE SURE NO ONE goes near the car while this is taking place....!! Trust me, It took me 3 weeks to get my Isuzu running after NOBODY put the key in the ignition and spun it over a few times while I was cleaning the Timing cover.... Major night mare!! Go slow and recheck.. Good luck!!

Have taken off water pumped might have knocked a 91 mazda protege out of time ,how do i find engine marks to reset the timming

Hello- Yes, you have to remove the timing belt in order to remove the water pump. If the belt was just placed back on the pulley without setting the timing marks, then the engine is out of time. There were two engine types that your Mazda could have been equiped with; a single overhead cam or a double overhead cam (you did not mention which). In any case, do not try to start the engine anymore, you could damage the valves due to piston to valve clearence caused by the engine to be out of time. Comment back with the engine type and/or if more assistance is needed.

I have found the crankshaft marks but I cannot find marks to align the to over head cams on my car, the dohc are run from 1 wheel. I am trying to re-align the timing belt as i think they have gone off.

if it's a dual overhead cam then each head has two cams and two pully's, a single overhead cam engine has one cam and one pulley on each head. if the belt has more than 60,000 miles on it you should replace it. you need to find out if the engine is an interference engine or not to determine the level of damage caused if the belt has jumped or slipped. your overhead cam timing marks are usually on the cam faces and the backing plate behind the cam or sometimes there's two marks on the cam that you align with the surface of the head behind them. the first thing you need is a diagram of the belt routing and mark positions because timing marks are very important especially on an interference engine. starting or cranking an interference engine with the timing marks misaligned can bend all your valves or even punch holes in your pistons! so proper alignment is crucial, good luck.

I need a diagram of timing chain replacement Thank You

During most engine rebuilds, a completely new timing assembly should be installed. If wear exists on any component, replacement of the entire assembly is necessary. Wear in the chain, gears, or sprockets means a timing lag, which results in poor engine performance.
The timing chain or belt is generally installed with the gears in their correct positions. Before installing a new chain, soak it in oil.
OHC (Overhead Cam) Engines
Some OHC engines use a chain drive; others use a belt drive. Removing the cover on some OHC engines that have timing chains is more difficult, because the cover often fits between the oil pan and the cylinder head. There are special procedures for replacing cam timing components in these engines.
Before a chain repair job, perform a leakage test on non-freewheeling engines to check for bent valves, so that an accurate repair estimate can be made.
OHV (Overhead Valve) Pushrod Engines
On many OHV pushrod engines, the crankshaft sprocket is installed on the crankshaft nose and the crankshaft is rotated to position piston #1 at TDC. At this point, a mark stamped onto the crankshaft sprocket is pointing directly upward (toward the camshaft).
The camshaft sprocket is then temporarily bolted to the cam and used to rotate the cam until a mark stamped on the cam sprocket is pointing directly downward (toward the crankshaft). The sprocket is then removed from the cam (without allowing the cam to rotate).
The timing chain is looped over the cam gear, the mark on the cam gear is positioned directly downward, and the chain is looped around the crankshaft sprocket. When the cam sprocket is attached to the cam, the timing marks on the crank and cam sprockets should be pointing toward one another. NOTE THIS IS FOR 2WD 4.0

I need to set camshaft in the head . how would i do that

Set the head on the engine and install backplate with a mark on the 12 o clock position, install the gear and allign the grove on the cam gear with the line on the new serpantine belt. allign all the marks on the replacement serpantine belt. Both cams and the crankshaft. Must be precicely alligned or you will have reduced power effeciency.
