it wont go away because their is a mechanical problem and or problem with oil change [ not enough oil wrong filter etc ] will need to have vehicle scanned for the fault code to determine the problem most auto stores offer this service for free
That light is an indicator that the required miles have been drove and it's time to do an oil change. The light should be reset after every oil change as the computer keeps track of the miles to warn you when it's time again should you forget.
If you want to turn the light off then follow these steps.
Push and hold the trip button and then turn the ignition to on while holding the trip reset button. Keep holding for 10 seconds and the maintenance required light will go offf.
the standard has always been 3000 miles,,,dont mess with these that claim more,,,carbon build up is the leading cause of faliure,,and the oil is the blood of your engine,,keep it changed,,put some injector cleaner in couple times a yr.,,water remover couple times in winter and you will get long service from your vehicle.
Replace the oil pressure sender and the problem should be solved . Fortunately , the senders tend to go out more frequently than the oil pump. If you change oil pressure sender and the light keeps coming on , you may have to consider replacing the oil pump in the motor or risk getting stranded some where with a blown motor.
The procedure for resetting the oil change light is in your owners manual. If you don't have the manual try this. Turn key on (do not start engine) and push the gas pedal to the floorboard 3 times within 5 seconds. Turn key off and restart the truck. Light should be reset now.
check owners manuel there is a procedure to reset it. if you don't have manuel try turning the ignition on and pressing the gas pedal down twice then turn off key and turn it back on again
Sounds like you may not have gotten a full amount of oil in the car, or you may have a faulty oil sending unit. Regardless of that though, you most definitely do NOT need to change your oil every month. Do another oil change and make sure the proper amount of oil is put in (the capacity is listed in your owner's manual in the specifications section). Try it out and see if you continue to have this problem. If you do, it's possible that the sensor is bad and is telling you that you have less oil than you really do.
