Question about Oldsmobile 98

1 Answer

1992 olds 98. The blower motorsstays on after you turn the ignition off. I disconnected the blower now the car is starting to act like the altornator is ad all the dash lights come on and I loose power when you turn it off the battery is dead, if you let it sit for a while it'll start again and the problem repeats. Any suggestions

I know I am alittle late for you, but incase you havent yet fixed the problem, its your ignition switch, located in the steering column under your key tumbler cost you around $75 dollars and this is very VERYcommon in bravada's. I own my own shop and ran across it a few times. Simple fix aslong as you have the know how. The reason this is happenening is because it sounds odd but that ignition switch olds put it for some reason supplies power and fuction to EVERYTHING in the vehicle including the tranny. Well good luck to all

I had a similar problem with a 1993 Chrysler product. Turned out to be the ignition switch. However, I would first try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes to reset the computer before checking into the switch.

I hope this helps :)

MY 1992 toyota celica acted like it was running out of gas and just quite and will not run agian. I have checked the fuel pump and the plugs are fireing. What else could be wrong?

could be alot of different things. try disconnecting the fuel line at the motor to see if you have fuel when the key is turned on. (put open end of line in a bottle preferrably clear to inspect for debris or water) If not replace fuel filter. could be a clogged catalytic converter, could be clogged injectors (if when you remove the fuel line at the motor there is fuel coming out when ignition is turned on) could be air filter is clogged. You can get rid of most of these without disconnecting anything by getting a can of choke and carb cleaner. Use it like you would starter fluid. (dont use starter fluid as it may lock up your motor) disconnect air filter and spray about a 2 second full spray into the air filter hose. have someone try to start the car. If it starts then you know its a fuel delivery problem and narrows it down for you.

Need to replace blower motor in 98 b2500

(1)If vehicle is equipped with airbags, disarm the airbag system. To do this, turn the ignition switch to OFF position. Detach the cable from the negative battery terminal, then detach the positive cable. Wait two minutes for the electronic module backup power supply to be depleted. To enable the system, turn the ignition switch to OFF position. Connect the positive cable first, then connect the negative.
(2)Disconnect the blower motor connector.
(3) Remove the blower motor mounting screws and remove the motor.
(4)Remove the blower motor wheel hub pushnut and the clamp from the shaft. Pull the blower motor wheel from the shaft.
(5) Installation is the reverse of these steps.

When I turn the key on my 92' sable ls, it will click but it wont turn over.? then randomly it will start again and act like nothing ever happened. is this the starter or alternater>?

If your battery is more than four years old, replace it. remove the starter and altenator and bring to autozone, where they test for free. If all three items above are ok, then you have a weird issue that involves alot of testing, or possibly an ignition cylinder?

Have a 92 Mazda Protege that won't start at times and other times it will. I changed the coil and still acts up. It will turn over but won't fire, can anyone tell me what is wrong with this car?

my old 1989 mazda had this problem as well but i traded it in before figure it out. my new but old 1999 started doing the same. it was the ignition switch. if u do buy it, buy it from an autoparts store with a life time warranty. the dealer offers ****, 10k miles or 6 mths? it has only 2 or screws, bolt? to take out and should take no more then 30 minutes to replace. pop off the steering column covers and its located where you stick the key in. its a little white and black cylinder looking plastic thing. very tiny, fits in your hand. my car would do the same work fine for months, then **** out and die and then work perfect 2 hours later. the dealer charges 200-250 for the part the auto store 100?. after installing it may act weird.. your car idoling will be off for a bit. turn it off and on for 10-20 minutes, drive it around the block if you can. turn it off again etc. until it starts to idol mormal. i think the master computer thing built in it has to reset itself since you disconnected the battery earlier and have just installed a part tht requires electrical contact. my car does that when i replaced it twice already but then resumes to normal. try this option and see if anything happens, if not return the part and get your money back.
