It sounds like you have a tilt wheel type steering colume. There are four bolts that get loose and just need to be tightened. Now here is the problem you have to go deep inside the colume just to do the job. it is about a good two hour job but it can be done at home. Tip..... use blue or red to bolts once you tighten them again.

Lots of shaking from side to side.

Could be a bad tire ( or bent rim Have balance checked), ball joint, idler arm, wheel bearing, steering tie rod end or defective rack and pinion unit. Lift vehicle about 1 inch off ground ( do each side independently) Use a pry bar and pry from ground up and down on wheel. Much play? bad ball joint. With both hands, try to move wheel side to side. Much play? could be a tie rod end or bad wheel bearing. Visually check play of steering arm into rack and pinion unit, more than about a half inch play, bad rack and pinion unit. Try to move back and forth with hands top and bottom. Much play? Bad ball joint or wheel bearing, verify visually that it is ball joint moving, else it is the wheel bearing. Manually check for play in each joint in steering control rods from steering knuckle all the way through each rod where there is a joint. Replace the one you find excessive play in. Check mounting studs for sway bar for loose fit, deteriorated rubber bushings or a crack / break in the sway bar. Replace if needed. That's about all I can think of unless it only happens when applying brakes, in which case it could be a warped rotor.

How do i replace the rear axel bearings on a 1988 Chevrolet IROC Z28 Camaro

Put car in neutral, remove wheels, calipers and rotors, diff. cover. rotate carrier until you see wrist pin retaining bolt, remove bolt and slide out the wrist pin out of carrier. Next push axle inward to remove inner axle "C" retainer washer then slide axle out of tube. Then pry off axle seal and with slide hammer w/attachment remove axle bearing.

Okay, i have a 1995 Camaro Z28.. i have a weezy power steering noise and i dont know how to fix it. whenever i turn my steering wheel to the max it squeels. even when im driving in 1st and 2nd gear i can...

Bleed the system. Add fluid to the fill line on the power steering fluid once it is warm. Then turn the wheels to each side all the way and leave all the way for about 5 secs. Do this two or three times. Check the fluid level. Keep doing this till the fluid level does not go down.

I just bought a 1991 z28 camaro with 71,000 miles on it I have a growling noise in the back end of the car and i have replaced the brake pads and bearings on both side of the car and the noise is still...

Sounds like the differential bearings are on the way out. Big perfromance cars like this are always driven hard and its hard on the diff. Put the car up on solid stands, chock the front wheels and put in drive and see if you can here the noise from the diff.

Steering wheel moves down and to the left it is not stationary on 1988 camaro tilt wheel when in locked position

Sounds like a pivot point backed out. Take it apart and inspect. Something will be obvious, likely on the right side.

Ignition Switch and sterring column

you should have a rod from the key switch down to the switch mounted about 18 inches down the colum. this is the actual switch so the wiring is lower where there is more room
