I keep braking (burning off belt smokinging squealing than breaking)than go to my alternator
I've replaced my waterpump and alternator and still the belts smoke and break off is there a spacer were the alternator meet that might be missing and its out of alignment?
It's a four cylinder deul overhead cams turbo. the belt lasts about the drive of ten miles each .I've taken off the brackets they look straight. The sheaves all look in line {altenator , Waterpump and crank. } The belts have all broke off in travel never recovered one. I'll drive it four or five times everything is great no sqeaks no sounds than bam. Squeal and break. No warning. How long does the belt last, and is it wearing off on the edges? With the belt off I would check all the rest of your acessories for no side play and they should all turn very easily. Also what engine does your car have? Is it the 2.3L 4 cyl? Thank you for using fixya.com

Water pump bearing faulty is first thought. How about faulty alternator/battery? you didn't mention any check engine lights that were on. Alternator bearings can fail, creating a no-charge situation that will run your battery dead, creating a "no power to injectors and no start situation"... if your waterpump is locked up, it can keep your belt from operating other accessories. Waterpump first choice.
IS THIS A SERPENTINE BELT OR AND INDIVIDUAL ALTERNATOR BELT? I'M GOING TO GUESS (ONE MAIN BELT)...SERPENTINE, AND THE TENSIONER IDLER PULLEY IS BINDING...NOT ENOUGH TO SMOKE THE BELT, BUT TO MUCH PRELOAD ON THE ALTERNATOR BURNING UP BEARINGS
Bearings in Alternator, water pump, power steering pump or even a squeal from Vacuum line, EGR diaphram or similar. Check power steering fluid level.
Now when you replaced the tensioner, did you notice more pulleys that were just "there" and not connected to anything? These are idler pulleys and are helpful in routing the belt. They have bearings too!
Could be the alternator .
A Battery store could test your car's battery and alternator to determine if the alternator is working correctly and that the cars battery is ok as well.
broken belt comes to mind? If the a/c squealed that ment it locked up. If it locked up? the belat cant turn it, Creating a burn out effect, Hence breaking the belt. Replace the A/c Pump and belt. You will be fine, Unless you overheat the engine from no belt turning the waterpump???
do you have a siezed tensioner pulley that could do it . remove the serpentine belt and check the idler puller, then the alt if it's siezed , the water pump pulley should turn freely also check what is siezed and making the belts squeel something's not turning.
Easiest way first.....if the belt is squealing (at idle), spray it with belt dressing or WD-40.....if it stops....may be the belt or the bearings in the alternator....if it continues only with driving.....brake wear indicator letting you know...brake job due!
Your serpentine belt broke. Don't drive the car until it's replaced. You will totally drain your battery and possibly blow the enging because the coolant isn't being pumped through.
