I had the same problem with my 2001 4runner also... I took it to a garage and they changed the two front brake pads but I also balanced and re-alligned the tires as well and the problem was solved.

Hi, It sounds to me like the brake disc(s) could be warped or badly worn - it really needs to be inspected at a garage as soon as possible.D

Apply firm brake and try to turn the stearing wheel while moving shift. Occasionally stearing wheel causes bind in system. Hope it helps.

Fornt end shakes when going down the road, gets worse whrn the brakes are applied

If the steering wheel shakes while applying the brakes, you have warped brake rotors, and they need to be replaced. A shake all of the time may also be another issue, as in tires out of round, out of balance, or bad tie rod ends.

STEARING SEAMS TO BE STIFFER AND SHAKING COMING THROUGH THE STEARING WHEEL AND WHEN YOU APLAY THE BREAKS YOU CAN FEEL BUMPING THROUGH THE BREAK PEDAL AND ALSO FLIKEREING ON THE SPEEDO

you may have bad CV joints. Each halfshaft has an inner and outer cv joint. One halfshaft going to each front wheel. Check to see if the rubber boots are split and all the grease leaked out.

Lot of play in sterring wheel

the stearing wheel with a play usually means one thing.. the stearing box..

you can eighter change the seals and stuff in the box,, or change the box all together.. Also the stearing rack could be at fault as well.. same thing applies,, change seals of change rack.. Remove the rack firstmm its the most likey cause.

When at higher speeds and when I brake the stearing wheel shakes. Why?

warped rotors. it is caused by braking too much and the metal rotors heat up and warp. nothing to be concerned about but is also a simple fix. change the rotors.

Well even though you had the rotors turned, they still could be warped and causing the car to shake at a high rate of speed when the brakes are applied. My suggestion is to replace the rotors asap.

Powerstearing leaking oil

Have the steering gearbox checked.  If fluid loss was severe.  Wear in steering box causes excessive play in steering controls.  Take on one concern at a time.  They do not seem to be related
